A few days ago I traded my car in for a new loaded 2014 Corvette (0-60 mph sub 4). I did so after proudly owning the car for 4 1/2 yrs. Facing over $6k in impending maint costs, belt service, fluids, tires, transport etc. I did so because I've been retired/retarded early for 3 years now, and didn't want my sons or wife to deal with tirekickers, internet etc .upon my demise. A little history if I may. When the US market crashed, at it's low in March 2009, my oldest son said, Dad you've worked awful hard and provided well, and a Ferrari is on your bucket list, what r u waiting for? Long story short, after a couple days of research, I flew down to Texas with check in hand. The first time I sat in a Ferrari, rode in one, drove one I bought one! Great old man color combination, Grigio Titanio with Bordeaux and Capristo and more. Fast forward, today I dropped off the Becker radio code card I forgot to tender. Looked at about 9 shiny new Vettes to make sure I choose the right color, which I won't get till spring, and there sat my baby/lost love, with a sign saying "Market Price" $19k above what I considered to be a fair trade price. However, my point is none of those shiny new cars compared to the mighty stallion!! I truly relished/enjoyed the experience and hopefully someday will again! Enjoy yours my friends!!

Grigio / Bordeaux ..... I love that color combo. What are the specs and what are they asking if you mind me asking?

P.S. don't hate yourself... the new Corvette appears to be a great car. Enjoy it for what it is. What color did you go with?

    ...and Corvettes are something else.

After many years owning many (older) Ferraris (maseratis, Lamorghinis, DeTomasos, etc.), I thought (at time of retierment) 'enough of this craziness.' Enough of working on them more than I drive them (my body was complaining about it). Enough with outrageous prices for parts that end up being crap and lasting 3,000 miles. Enough for not being able to get the parts you need at any price. Enough with being worried about leaving them in parking lots.

    Enough, enough, enough.

So, the last of the old exotics (330 GTC) hit the road. I bought a 2003 Corvette used. Great car. Very easy to live with. Lots of power. Cheap to fix and more important easy to fix - it was never at the shop for more than a couple of hours.

But...it wasn't a Ferrari. Not close. It was like the difference between dating a really nice girl that looked great, that you liked a lot, and really was nice to you - but that wasn't the exciting, kinda crazy wild thing that really rang your bell. over and over again. The Vette was a really nice car. The Ferraris were sirens.

After long thought, I sold the Corvette and bought a used 360. If you're gonna have a toy - get the best toy you can afford.

Do I miss the Vette? Sometimes. Sort of like you miss your mother or an ex-girlfriend that you liked. It was a nuturing car...with a ton of torque.

But, I am glad I made the switch. Because the 360 is the hot woman...onmly better The hot woman demands attention and pampering all the time. The 360 waits patiently for me to use (drive) it. The best of both worlds.

Sounds like you made a sensible choice. At first I was thinking that you did it wrong but you know what? You created a 5+ month mourning period to properly grieve your loss! By the time spring rolls around and then jumping into a new, no worry car, will feel so good that you will be OK!

How do you trade in your car for a new car you will get delivered for 5 months,
you "prepaid" ? How does that work ?

Why not sell yourself for way more, since you have 5 months ......?

While I like Vette's, a lot, and came close to getting a new one, I just could
not see losing $22/25K in the first 2 years of ownership.....
Rather keep my 360 and bet (hope !) I do not spend that on maintenance/repairs.....

Lastly, I hope you are not paying more than msrp, many Vette Forum dealers
    are msrp.....

I appreciate all the kind words, especially the vixen analogy's. Have to admit, I have been smitten by both the temptress in flesh and metal!! Life is good my friends, and especially great if you experience both. I didn't try to sell on my own because I didn't want to deal with a bunch of imposter/****** wanna be idiots on line or in person who think they could afford the car and just wanted to possibly get a cheap demo ride, which I wouldn't do. Oh well. Still sorta sad. Looked at pics today. Not as horny as I used to be, but I have to say u can acquir a lot of "nieces" with the stallion!! :)

the new Vette is my next car, but first I have to do a clutch one more time on the 360, i have to fix the shrunk dashboard one more time, oh and do the belts a few more times, then I will get the new Vette when its all I can afford.

No, joke the new Vette is my next car, i really like it but NOT YET.

Yes the 2014 Corvette is a world class car. The down side, at least for me, never had a desire to own a car where I meet myself coming and going. The Chevrolet dealer in my town alone has ordered 150, 2014 Corvettes! The plus side for people wanting a C5 or C6 series Corvette, those prices will drop by a lot, as thousands of them will be traded in for the 2014, C7. The influence of Ferrari on the new Corvette is unmistakable.

Wish all you current, past and future Ferarristas the best motoring experience of your lives. It`s been therapeutic to lay on your couch's and hear your feedback. I sensed some cavalier subtleties of affordability, and I totally concur about uniqueness. Truth be know if chose to liquidate assets I could get a Veyron tomorrow instead of the new C& Corvette. I truly enjoyed 4 1/2 years of my Ferrari, but I not be a "wrencher" won't miss the disconcerting false check engine symbols on the dash. Look at the threads on this websit, what is it, 80-90% talking about problems/asking for help. Having retired 3 yrs ago at age 60 I guess the ship has sailed and I'm just boring and choose to spend, get my excitement, from having put my kids through college, given them destination weddings. down payments on their homes and joint family vacations vs a car. As it is 4 cars no jobs here. I truly loved the experience and thank everyone who consoled me or bragged to make me feel beeter about my decision/priorities in life at this stage of it! Best wished and happy trails to all!!

As the current owner of Tuan's previous 360, I can heartilly agree that Tuan knows his cars and he manaages to score great ones. I have owned his previous car for 3 years and have driven it 8,000 miles. One mechanical issue - a thermocoupler sending unit failed - the dealer replaced for about $500. Other than that, the car has had no issues and still pretty much looks brand new.

    Love the car!

So did I, but when you declined my offer to buy the car back for what you paid, it broke my heart again. :) These cars can have a lasting effect on people who own them. It had always been my dream to own a Ferrari, let alone a red one with a gated shifter. After I sold it, I realized I had made a terrible mistake so I searched many years until the right one with a third pedal came on the market and I jumped on it! The day my Grigio Titanio came on the market, I had just beat another buyer by several minutes and there was another buyer from out of state. After I saw it, I had to have it. I don't drive my cars very much, but when I do the manual gives me so much delight. My daughter says "let's take the Ferrari!" when we go out for burgers and that right there warms my heart that I can share my experience with her.
