i have a 2000 360 f1 runs flawless my question is when i start it up, it will puff smoke like an outboard motor does when first started but then after that, it is fine...... no codes....have owned for a month and a half with nothing then all of a sudden this started, happens on first start of the day then doesn't do it the rest of the day any ideas ?

Without seeing it and if it is smole and not condensation,I would have to guess that the valve guide stem seals are leaking a bit.

Probably was overfilled with oil and both plenums have pools of it in the bottom.

If it is overfilled you really need to fix it and you really should clean the oil out of the plenums. Putting all that oil through the cats is not a good idea.

Why do you think you are not seeing it the rest of the time?

The cats are burning it. We almost never see cars with oil smoke from the tail pipe anymore and it is because of cats and it isn't good for them.

Precats are 3 grand each and main cats are 5 grand each.

well i went to start the car and again the smoke thing happened huge ! and it is definitely NOT condensation .... i'm making an appt with arena motors stephen a specialist, and i"ll let ya's know the out come .. it isn't the fact of being over filled on a oil change......... could it be the dry sump is pushing out to much oil before i start the car ? or maybe there is a slow leaking over night like maurice70 said... any how so much for wanting to drive it this weekend you still no codes show on the dash you would think something would light up

im pretty sure it has too much oil in it. take it for a drive get oil and engine temps up then check oil with engine running.should not be over max mark at all. If so get oil drained instantly. damaging the cats is nothing wat could happen is the variable cam timing will advance to early and could bend the inlet / exhaust valves. very expensive.
