Hey all, I was just wondering what those ashtray variations were based on because I noticed two versions on the 360 spider one that looks like below: Image Unavailable, Please Login and another with the US flag (50th anniversary edition): Image Unavailable, Please Login What was the variation based on was it a model year thing or a US market vs other markets?
The reason I ask is mine is an 05 but it has the 50th anniversary design, so I'm wondering if my ashtray was replaced or if the 05 did in fact come with that too
Usual thing with the factory is they would have started using the badges once received / issued (probably nothing to do with model year) and continued installing them til they ran out
The top one is the Pininfarina badge. They are navy signal flags indicating the letter P for Pininfarina and F for Ferrari.
Isn't the F the Pininfarina logo and the prancing horse the ferrari logo? no P there. Unless you're seeing something I'm not. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The top one you posted was used from at least the 355 through 430 era. Not sure how much farther after or before but almost all the switches/ashtrays/etc have been recycled for a long time.
It does. I believe it was explained a few posts up as them using the F for the last name of Battista Farina. You can see it's clearly an F in the flag. There are no other letters represented: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Please. do a little research, just a little. The emblem is Pininfarinas. The flags are maritime flags and the square blue white flag represents P for Pininfarina. Before the name change it was Pinin Farina and the emblem was different. Before you argue do a little research.
I don’t think we’re disagreeing on which flag is which. Previously you said the flag with the “p” was for pininfarina and the flag with the “f” was for Ferrari. I don’t see a flag with a p though. It seems obvious, to me at least, that the pininfarina logo has an f. more than happy to admit my ignorance in the history here. I’m just not following your explanation. I don’t think I’m the only one though.
I guess to better educate myself and others that might be in the dark here and, per Rifledriver's suggestion, I did a little research. What was trying to be explained and perhaps lost on myself (admittedly not a nautical master) is that letters are represented by shapes and colors on nautical flags. The letter F is represented with a red diamond on a white background while the letter P is represented with a white square inside a blue one. For reference: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41DwvEY9UmL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_.jpg The point of contention is that the Pininfarina logo uses an "F" within the flag which has been used as part of their logo for years: https://1000logos.net/pininfarina-logo/ So, you could say the Pininfarina flag has both a P and an F on it Image Unavailable, Please Login
