Surprised that the door pockets on these $150k + cars are not solid aluminum. They seem to be just silver painted plastic. A local paint shop here said he could repaint and clear coat them for me, since the previous owner was not really that careful when he released the seat belt a few times. Just curious what other owner's have done, since a new driver's side pocket is $1000 from Ferrari. Not really interested in the fake carbon one's. If anyone has any pictures I would love to see what you did.

Not sure what year your car is, but my 2003 spider has metal. I would be surprised if your are not metal.

I believe they are metal, and I can say for sure that they are painted. Had mine (2001 spider) repainted and clearcoated a few years ago - still look great.

How did you reach the conclussion that they are silver-painted plastic?

Whether they are aluminum or plastic, they are infact painted. Why Ferrari feels the need to paint Aluminum an "aluminum color is beyond me. They are not clear coated and need to be. Got an estimate to repaint on a weekend at a local shop here in Kennewick, Wa. for less than $200. Will just do that as I am a chip and scratch freak. It's a 2001 BTW.

They are aluminum regardless of how they feel.

Someone said that Ferrari painted the panels because the aluminum scratched easily.

Paint is more consistent and cheaper than anodizing, which can be easily scratch.
If it gets damaged during final assembly, they can re-sand and repaint.

No offense to all 360 owners but those silver pieces were a big reason I didn't get a 360 and ponied up for a 430. I still think the shape of the 360 is superior.

I, too, am very surprised F didn't make them look or last a bit better.

I actually like the 360 CF aftermarket pieces for the interior especially with black interior or black carpets.

Beginning with the 2003 year model, carbon was available from the factory on 360's.

I actually like them the just way they are :) I think the pockets look better metal than if they were leather.

    To each his own.
