360 Spider Roll Bar Hoops -- Do they work?

Does anyone have any information that the 360 Spider roll bar hoops actually made a difference in a rollover? For me, my head sticks out past the hoops and I think the pavement would just slice off the top of my head exposing my brains. Maybe it would be better to be flattened like a pancake.

Does anyone know of anyone who was saved by the hoops?--or survived a rollover in a 360?
