I’ve searched unsuccessfully for dyi instructions on roof elastic replacement. I’ve found random posts on forums. Aldous had some brief mentionThese really on spoke of need for replacement and that the straps can be accessed with partial retraction of the roof. Any ideas on where I can access detailed instructions?

There is a 20 minute YouTube video you can search for but I used it and it’s not a bad job to do. You need TORX drivers and a pop rivet gun as you have to cut 2 rivets and replace them in reassembly. Have a roll of high quality double face tape. Take pictures as you disassemble and note screw length and what screw goes where. You have to get the elastics and sew it on to the existing ends. It’s not brain surgery and just requires going slow. Good luck.

    Bumping this thread.
I'm due to get new elastics for my 430 roof, and am happy to do the work myself, given the video above.
But where can I get a set of elastics?
The local main dealer here in RSA says you can only order the entire roof (surprise), so does anyone know if I can get precut lengths that will suit?
I'm happy to get these from anywhere in the world and pay postage etc,

So hard on the heels of the above, after some research I see that it's just a reel of standard elastic, as well as other generally available materials.
For anyone else with roof elastic problems, here's a link with a very detailed summary of parts needed. Hope it helps others

Also, avoid getting anything off the shelf at your local fabric store. Automotive elastics are tuned to last under in high heat environments. Cheap elastics will fail again early.

This is a very good video. The elastic used here looks heavy duty.
    Wonder where he got it?

Do you have a link to this product? I'd like to add it to the writeup I did about elastics (linked earlier). Thanks.

Sorry, no. I have a contact at YKK because I'm in automotive and they sent me some as a favor but I don't know where you'd buy it. I'll ask and see though.

In the past, I've used rockywoods or strapworks.

In the link above there was a link to an Amazon supplied knit elastic product that was used .
Not sure if that's ideal but in my location it may have to suffice
