Considering how much time and effort you've put into this project, which is awesome, have you thought about a challenge grill with wider holes. I believe there is some variance in the size of the holes in the grill- for example, the F50 looks like you can see the engine more clearly. This might dissipate more heat and look great as well.

    Hi Enrique,

I think additional airflow is a great idea. But one probably needs a very high volume of air in order to be effective. If using a fan at the rear area my natural inclination would be to try and suck hot air out of engine bay and purge to rear or floor of car. The air withdrawn would naturally be replaced by fresh air from somewhere else.

That said, I feel that the greatest potential for additional air is probably a scoop type system towards the front lower engine bay and the opening up of an exhaust facility towards the rear.

If one had a couple of vent pipes down low feeding cool air directly to the manifolds for example and free flowing exhaust capability one would probably move many multiples of that fan's capability.

Perhaps the CS grill is sufficient for exhaust purposes? If so, some ducting from below with a little air scoop fashioned might deliver a better result? Granted it would not work while car was stationery but I think it would flow much more air volume once moving.

    Greg.

Thank you for the observation, I am already using an original CS grill with the wider holes.

Hello Greg ...thank you for the ideas !

Along the same thought process is the same reason I am thinking of boring a 4" hole on the fenderwell in order to pull air from the tire side. There is enough clearance on the tire side to place a plate with stand offs to avoid debris and road junk kicked up from the tire to be sucked in.

The rotation of the wheel and angle of the fenderwell would suggest I can gain access to non-turbulent " cooler " airflow from such area or at least cooler than the engine compartment heat soaked air.

I'm also thinking of diverting part of the airflow to the RH side of the air box. Will elaborate more in the next couple of days and more pictures

I've made a few styles of inserts / bushings out of cold rolled, aluminum and bronze silicone .
Hopefully, I can get some " me " time over Thanksgiving to install, as the rattle is getting worse.
I've machined enough inserts for a bunch of us , assuming they work .... no worries you're on the priority list !

Thinking about it, I feel extract would be more effective. The two vent openings near the rear wheels feed air to the engine compartment area so there's already positive pressure that's trying to escape using whatever method and route it can find. Trying to "push" more air into the engine area with a fan will, I feel, be a lot less effective than trying to assist it's exit.

I note also that you're contemplating something with the air box so maybe that's influencing your thinking?

Anyway, you can probably reverse the fan with ease and try it out both ways. You'll need to get some of those temperature recording strips that Stef was using in his Capristo thread. You know we want data!

Look forward to your further developments.

Greg ...same thought if negative / positive pressure becomes an issue I can always reverse the fan, as it is symmetrical in design.

The foot print is such that if additional airflow was needed , one can run two fans as uni-directional or bi-directional ?

In my garage , driven very little due to a hectic work / contract schedule.....will be updating the engine cover grills to 430 style and adding an engine vent system in the near future !

You did a great job with this car. It is the best looking, coolest 360 I've ever seen. I'm green with envy (but in a friendly way). I hope you enjoy it and wish you lots of luck with it.

I'm sorry that your schedule is so hectic that you can't enjoy it. I am looking forward to seeing a new video of the car someday soon.

From the pictures of the interior it looks like the (rubber?) flooring is over the standard floor? Just curious, did you remove the sound deadening from the floor of the spider or not go this far for some reason?

The floor matts / covering are an all weather product FROM " www.weathertech.com " which allowed me to keep the carpeting with a CS bare floor look.

The few added pounds of carpeting is a huge benefit to the noise level of the CS.

A bit pricey $ 360.00 USD for floor matts, but highly recommended, specially in wet weather areas and Beach areas !

A simple hose off and the interior look like new.

We have black widows here in Southern California, but I have never seen one with Italian colors as a racing stripe. A cool logo... most def.

The theme / logo is a perfect fit for the car " Street Spider " .... but being born and raised in Mexico, the color palette works for me also .....specially in SoCal !

Another ...just for you Barry !

I actually caught 3 Black Widows to try and get a couple of good pictures to depict the theme of my car. Black Widows are quite in abundance here in Southern California with a bad reputation, nevertheless I released the one in the picture .

It would not stay still long enough to paint stripes on it !

And here i thought it was an Italian variant of the species.

Anyway, you have created a fine, unique, and desirable vehicle. And thanks for sharing your plans and experience with the rest of us.

Please show me how you do that bark in a 3-pedal? Do you release the gear to neutral - then gas up - then ...?

I'll give you a quick lesson on heal /toe next time we meet ...it's all about timing, a bleep of the throttle as you are transitioning to a lower gear. It becomes addictive with a loud exhaust ( LOL ) !
