I am looking at purchasing my first Ferrari. That being a 2002 360 Spider F1.
It has alittle over 50,000 miles. The dealer said they are currently working on fixing the top because it is having a problem lathing closed. Is this a major problem? Will this be something prone to pop up again and haunt me? Is this common? Should I veer away from this car?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I can't tell you if the problem is serious or not. All I can tell you is that the top on my 430 on occasion does not latch properly. The issue has been assessed by the dealership, they found no issues with the top mechanism. When the top does not latch, I gently pull the top against the top of the windshield.

yes it can be a big problem, cause 360 won't shift if that problem occurs. I had this problem with my 360

To ensure a solid latch I do the following:

    1. Close roof as normal, until the hook is rotating in the latch.
    2. Grab top of roof from driver seat and gently pull down to assist latching process

I do this most of the time just because once or twice the latch did not have a good enough bite to pull the roof into place making the microswitches happy and thus the TopCU happy. Maybe its not necessary most of the time, but what else do I have to do while putting the top up?

2006 F430 Spider, it has the same top system as your 360 (mostly)
