I am looking to use a 360 engine in a prototype car but I would really like more power so I was thinking about using a Procharger supercharger to try and get a bit more power. Has anybody tried supercharging this engine and what sort success and failure have people had? (Engine will be mated to a Quaife SMG box).

Novitec do it with impressive numbers.

A procharger and the units Novic use are centrifugal compressors and do make impressive peak hp numbers, but don't do a good jod in the the lower 1/2-2/3 of the rpm band. I think you would be a lot happier with a Screw type positive displacement SC. I've never seen one on a 360, but is has worked wonders on my 308. I use a lysholm sold as Whipple in the US, but I've heard good things about autorotor sold by Kenne-Bell in the US as well.

I think a turbo would also provide better performance than a centrifugal SC. There is a company is AU that has a 355 kit (search tourbo 355 in the AU section), it should also work on a 360, but the kit is something like $30k

With a good intercooler, 10-12 psi and 60-80% hp increase is posible with any of the options. The turbo will give the best numbers, a SC will give the widest power band. You'll need much big fuel injectors and a programable ECU, which is included and programed with the 355 TT kit...Novitec does something too and there kit is ready to go, but I'm not sure what they supply other than 600hp.

The Novitec kit is a really impressive package too. it's so small and tucked away, you could almost miss it.

The fly by wire throttle of the 360 is yet to be mastered to my satisfaction by an alternative tuner ECU, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. The F1 gear shifting is definitely to be avoided with alternative ECU's, need a stick shift if using 360 Box.

I'd say for a project like this, the 355 package with Turbos would be ideal.... comes with transaxle etc, just stitch it in to your frame.

I was thinking about that the other day. It seems to me that the factory ECUs are pretty good these days and the product that would be way way cool is a software program that lets you plug in and re-map the factory ECU. I’ve seen it for US stuff and the fact that tuner chips are available for high end cars tells me it can be done…personally I’ve gotten so far out of the electronics/programming loop over the years to be much use at creating it…but there has to be someone out there with the know-how. That could be a $1000 piece of software and people would line up to buy it.
