    Hi All -

I have a '99 360 F1 with a tach reading that has no relevance to the engine speed. Ii seems to settle in random places and only occasionally moves. Is there a bad ground (my 1st thought with an electronic tach) or is the needle off its pivot? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers, Jim

I have had to replace stepper motors within my instrument cluster, the symptoms were very similar to what you are seeing. If you are handy, it can be a DIY job. The biggest pain is removing the cluster from the car, which you would have to do no mater what.
