Yeeeeup! You can take ur gas cutoff saw and jus' chop' er offf! Other than that.. there's the OEM sunroof.. but not sure anyone has a true targa IIRC. The problem is the bonded and riveted aluminum structure. You would almost have to start with a Spider and then build up from that.. or use the spider reinforcement body panels to conserve the structures rigidity.
Yep. I sat in one that was for sale at Ferrari of Silicon Valley a few years ago. It was a very rare option. The sun roof does not slide back (like in most cars), but rather it lifts off and you stow it in the trunk. I think it even came with a storage bag.
I'm a huge targa fan and would have loved this. Still hope to have a 355 GTS one day. This topic of why no 360 GTS was discussed a few years back http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/140522-ferrari-360-430-targa-why-not-produced.html At least one model maker tried to see what it would look like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lYe61Yfvks
Should clarify. It was not a targa top. I think the part that came off was approximately 18 inches by about 24 inches. Was not very large. It was as if a small part of the roof was missing.
I have a 2002 F1 360 spider and love it. A friend of mine found a 2000 360 F1 Coupe and paid $45K for it. We just finished doing timing belts in my garage last weekend. Car is in fantastic shape. No service history, but at that price. Dude has a lot of money to blow and was talking about having a custom body shop cut the roof off and turning it into a Targa. Doesn't like the look of my spider.
