    Gentleman,
    My 360 is a 99 has the tubi test pipes and tubi exhaust. Sounds incredible! The problem lies that it has been running poorly at low rpm. From a start it will sputter and then clean out and run great from say 3,000 rpm and above. Sounds like it boggs or is running fat or too lean at low rpm in almost every gear. It cleans right out though above 3-4,000 rpm

    I reset the ECU when it does this, let her idle for about 8 minutes to reset the ECY properly. It then runs great for another say 75 -150 miles around town. Then it happens all over again. WTF

    My local dealer who does a great job and actually doesn't try to screw me says that both my front O2 sensor could be failing and to replace them. $700 Also do a ground check on the whole electrical system as she is a 99 and needs it anyway. $500

    My question is what about the back two O2 sensors with the test pipes on? They are currently tied up and secure but not connected anywhere? Do they disconnect those or trick O2 sensor somehow to make the ECU not throw codes or adjust the engine management from their reading?

    If the above doesn't work they suggest I put my CATS back on and buy 2 new rear O2 sensors. $700. Last thing I want to do is put my CATS back on. It sounds too incredible. Thanks for any opinions or suggestions.

    The dealer comment about front O2's is plausible however I think that the MAF’s should be a consideration too; particularly with the symptoms that you shared.

    Now with regards to the rear O2 sensors, they have no affect on the drivability or the manner that the car runs. Their sole purpose in life is to determine cat efficiency. You share that they were removed/disabled as such the check engine light should be on however it appears that someone tricked the ECUs or maybe installed a resistor or ?? to produce a signal that the ECUs are happy with.

    In any case, the rear O2 are of no concern for the symptoms you shared and I reiterate the MAFs should be high on your list of items worthy of checking. BTW, they can be cleaned however sometimes the process does not produce perfect results. In your case I would clean them, reset the system and go through the driving process again and see what if anything changes….

    I would clean the big connector to the MAF sensor(s?), and treat the pins on the connector with Stabilant 22.

    Yes I don't have a any check engine lights so the rear O2 sensors must have been bypassed somehow

    No worries,

    They are the two cylinder shaped pieces at the inlet of the plenum. They each have a plug that connects to them.... Maybe someone can post a picture

    I bought the car with the test pipes but I think they are arournd $500 for both.


    Update. I had one bad O2 sensor and one getting bad. Replacd both front O2 sensor and she runs like a champ!!

    The test pipes stay!
