I have asked this similar question here but need clairfication before I go to the dealer?? My 99 360 has tubi test pipes and tubi exhaust. Killer sound and power. The previous owner told me that due to the test pipes and back pressure, that ever so often I would need to turn off all power (under the front hood) resetting the ECU. Let her idle for 8 minutes so the computer would re-learn. Last weekend, after a 2.5 hr drive it started to mis-fire or bobble. When coming to a stop it would almost stall then cackle and jump in between 100 rpm to 1200rpm?? WTF? I did as was told, re set the ECU, let it idle for 8-10 min and it ran like a champ for the rest of the weekend till the drive home. Once again after about 2 hours it started mis firing...you could just feel it a little bit. I pulled over but only waited for 5 minutes at idle. Ran good for about 15 miles then did her again but not as bad. This car is recently serviced, new-plugs, belts, compression, etc everthing reads to spec. My weekend drive about 600 miles and actually mostly easy freeway miles?? Do I always need to deal with this Sh&% or is there something else going on here? WTF? I love the test pipe sound but.... Thanks and sorry for the long post, Big Mike
Not sure what CEL is ? I get no codes waring lights all gauges read perfect? I mean does everyone with test pipes have to fgo through this procedure or does my mechanic need a peak see? thx Big Mike
