I have been driving and enjoying my '02 360 Modena, but accoustically I only enjoy it 1/2 of the time ... when the rpm is above 4k or when I am nailing the throttle ... The rest of the time, when cruising in traffic or part throttle openings, it is very quiet and not exotic sounding. Even my previous Porsche 993 produced a better sound at low rpm. Furthermore, I barely use the CD changer, because engine noise not loud enough. (I enjoy listening to engine noise over music sometimes)

I was discussing with the dealer about it and when I mentioned about tubi or capristo he said forget about it ... He insisted that when I am ready, we will install a "Challenge kit" that consists of Challenge Stradale exhaust, CS sports catalysts, CS heat shields, and CS computer management ... all of which will "increase hp and improve sound" (his comments)
He gave me a rough estimate of around 6000 Euros installed...

    My question is this :
From what I know, challenge stradale exhaust still uses a valve which stays closed at low rpm. Therefore, it would still need high rpm or wide throttle openings to be heard. Furthermore, I find the CS engine note rather coarse, not as sweet as a 355 for instance.

What would you suggest in my case ?
Sould I go with Tubi that has more bass at low / mid rpm ?
How is high rpm with Tubi ? I heard all videoclips on several websites and I like the sound, but cannot tell unless I hear the sound in person.

I am not sure, but I think I heard a Tubi on a 360 once in 2000 when I lived in Boston, MA. Did the Ferrari dealer in New England install Tubi exhausts back in those days ??? Apparently Tubi exhausts in Europe are not as popular as in the US.

Also, with regards to guarrantee, I think a tubi will void the warrantee so I will have to wait until next year when it expires... In the meantime, I will probably be visiting my apartment in NYC, so maybe I ask some of you guys in the Tri-state area for a quick demo ...

    Thanks for reading my post

Sound is a matter of opinion of course. I love the Tubi. Dealers install them so I wouldn't worry about the warranty. You'll have to listen to decide.

You need to find out what storminnormin has on his 360 and duplicate it.
I was behind him, next to him and in front of him this morning and the only word that comes to mind is....

    Wow!!

I have a Tubi on mine and I love it, especially when I get to 3k on the tach. My friend liked it so much he got it on his 360 too, especially compared to the more mild sounding stock system.

Get a Capristo level 3 if you want fulltime exotic sound. I have the challenge exhaust on my spider and its a happy medium. I enjoy it and my neighbors dont hate me.

Thanks Robert. I have a Cargraphic (aka Fuchs) on my 360. The sound is lower pitched than a tubi or Capristo.

Why woudn't you just unplug the solenoid that closes the bypass filter - there's something in the archives.

Get's you the over 4000rpm sound low down in the rev range for free.

Search the archives for 360 and bypass - takes an alan key and 30 seconds.

I have thr Capristo Level 2 on my Modena. The sound up to 2.5k rpm is much louder than the stock or Tubi. If you stand at the back of the car while its idling, you can feel the bass sound through your body. At higher revs, it produces higher pitched sound than the Tubi.

On trackdays, lots of people tell me its one of the best sounding 360s they have ever heard.

I think level 3 may be too loud for the road use though.

Tubi for the 360 is a fantastic product. I had one on my 360 and it still gives me a pang whenever I hear one. My benchmark is the 355, and a Tubi'd 360 has a quality very like the 355.

I'm a big fan of making a car sound consistent with its looks. Hence I have a Koenig on the 456 to make it sound meaty and powerful, but not outrageous, whereas the Stradale should sound outrageous, which is why it has an NGT, soon to be followed by sport cats and a challenge ram intake. IMO, Tubi suits the 360 perfectly. Ferrari SpA are a tad anal about modifications voiding the warranty, but talk to your dealer, who should have a more mature attitude. If not, find another dealer. What the drive-by noise regualtions take away, the Tubi giveth back. Amen.

I used to have a capristo test pipes and a tubi's Street Stradale system. I found the tubes kept splitting, gave an ongoing drone even at low revs and even more annoyingly, kept triggering the CEL.

I have now switched to a pair of larini sports cats with the same back box and absolutely love it. Received an enormous amount of good feedback about the noise at Le Mans and had no problem regarding wear and tear or CEL. Absolutely love it.

Much noisier than standard without preventing discussion in the cockpit but deafening when pushed in a tunnel!

MS Racing sounds wild. Maybe your ears start bleeding after a few hours, but boy does it sound beautiful.
    Very pricey though.

OTOH, can't you disable the switching so that it is always in open/loud mode? And when you get tired of it ... switch it back to quiet. Like a manual over-ride ...

Tubi and Tubi Test pipes. Get rid of the fire hazard CATS. So loud it is ear shattering. A good loud though.
Truely sounds like an F1 car at high rpm's and a beast at low rpm's.
People have said they can hear me on the freeway from what they guess is as far away 3 miles away. Downside is that ever so often you need to turn off the ECU (under the front hood) It allows the computer to re-boot itself. After about 250 miles or so the car eventually starts to sputter. Also that cruising throughy town you make quite a "Sceen"

    No sound like it though!

MD - Tubis are great. Nothing wrong with them whatsoever. However, they are probably only 10% - 20% louder at idle and low rpms and maybe 30% louder (and better sounding) at higher rpms. For most this is very acceptable as it is "just right" - louder than stock but not obnoxious.

If you want LOUD and ferocious then there is only one choice - Capristo. The actual level of "loud" will be up to you - level 2 or level 3 (track version). I have a level 3 and it is obnoxious. It is the best sounding exhaust around across the range IF you like it that way, however, if you live in a quiet neighborhood, have strict law enforcement, talk on your cell alot, etc. - don't get a level 3. Stick with a level 2.

My experience with Tubis (which I have had on two previous Ferraris) is that they sounded good but not great. In both cases I had to add test pipes and remove the cats in order to achieve the sound I wanted. With the Capristo I still have my cats. It comes down to preference. Both are great systems.

I got mine through larini systems in the UK - http://www.larinisystems.com/contact-details.php. I paid just over £1,000.

Performance wise, there is a definite difference. During Le mans, there was a motorway blast where I edged away from another 360. Given all other factors (gears, ecu's, passengers, etc.) are the same this adds weight to their claim of an increase in performance due to improved air flow.
