I guess my question is is the transmission the same in the gated and the F1 transmissions and does it just have a rear f1 shift mechanism on the back to make it an F1?

A few companies are making conversion kits back to gated shifters but the kids are not identical to the original design is that because the transmission is different

    got a 2001 360 f1 and I really don’t like the shifting

Maybe upgrade the TSU on your car to a 2004 or CS model and maybe the shifting is a bit better for your taste.

Trans unit is the same it’s the ad on unit that is diff so or F1 or manual system but underneath that they all build the same

Same basic unit. You unbolt the F1. You bolt on the manual shift and the associated hardware and you go.

Todd- Takes a while to learn how to use F1 so you can shift smoothly all the time and learn your own techniques. Drive it like you do a three pedal except with one pedal missing. If you are new to this, keep practicing. A CS TCU will definitely help.

I bought my 575M because I wanted F1. Have had dozens of three pedal cars, including 3 other Ferraris and one Fiat Dino, so one more skill set to learn. With enough practice, you will be smoother with F1 than with three pedals and there is no comparison when in a hurry.

Do you use the paddles or in full auto? In my GranSport, you really need to use the paddles and slightly lift of throttle during upshifts. Makes for a much better driving experience. Downshifting, the ecu blips throttle so no lifting. There is also a sweet spot in the revs, where everything just gels, just need to find it in your car. My 360 is a 3 peal car, it's a great car, but alot of work to get the shifts smooth. The Gransport shifts quicker when I run them harder.

Do you know reverting back to gated is a better term than converting to gated (common term)?

This is due to all the 360s are gated at the factory and then they simply added the F1 system on top as a sweet $20k option (probably off a little bit on price) before sending to dealership.

Powertrain is exactly the same. Therefore, tranny box is the same. Driving experience? Different.

Funny that now it costs $20K + to convert the F1s back to gated…

The $20k is just the kit though. Labor not included and that itself will be another pretty penny.

there's a helpful youtube video of course that walks you thru the conversion installation albeit on a 355 but "seemingly" painless.

i would like to know if the 360 conversion kit fits a 355?

    It's not accurate.

    80% of all 360's ordered were F1.

They didn't "simply add" anything, that makes zero sense. His entire sentence there doesn't make any sense.

They were built as either F1, or manual cars at the factory. Denoted in the VIN.

I felt the same way. I’ve owned manuals for 30 years and felt the 360 was difficult. I did a 360Trev reprogram of the ECU’s and it’s MUCH improved. The whole driving experience is really.

Brian- Too bad it is not true. There would sure be a lot of 3 pedal parts laying around.
