First Post, but have learned a lot on this forum, thank you all. My 360 suddenly was dead on all turn signals, left, right and emergency flasher. No indications, no nothing. All other lights worked fine, so I followed some other threads on this forum and checked all CBs, which were fine. I sourced a new Blinker Relay from the Ferrari Dealer in Norway, and now when activated, the lights lite up, but do not flash. This also go for the emergency switch, and I do get the turn signal indication and warning triangle in the instrument cluster, but no flashing and no clicking from the relay. I figured they must have given me a faulty relay, so I returned to the shop and exchanged it. Same indications. Then the funny thing; when activating the key fob, the blinkers blink. Also if I trigger the alarm, the blinkers blink. That to me rules out a ground issue, and I also checked the ground pin on the plug that goes into the relay. No issues. Anyone any experience, or ideas would be much appreciated. My next step will be to source one German made BMW relay that I have read in the forums should work better.. Best, Kent from Norway, 360 owner since 2018.
The Immobiliser ECU powers the blinkers directly and independently of the flasher module. If all your lights work with your immobiliser (including side repeaters on Euro cars), then the bulbs and most of the wiring should be ok. Recheck to be sure, but a faulty bulb on one side should not affect the other side. If you get normal arrow indications when you select L/R turn, this also indicates if your bulbs are ok. Often faulty external bulbs will affect the flash rate of your dash indicator. You know your flasher module is getting power because that powers the dash indications. You can rule out the stalk switch as being faulty as not even the hazards work. Just curious... Is your clock working? That uses the same fuse as your steering column stalk switch. Here's the wiring diagram, but I don't think it will help: https://www.dropbox.com/t/02QajCCdyClfZRDd
Sorry, I missed the change in behaviour in your write-up. So you had an improvement with the new module/relay. Was the replacement relay the correct type for Euro cars? P/N 171798? Are your bulbs OEM? I have received faulty new hazard/turn modules, but it's less likely two new ones were faulty. I usually find it cheaper to repair my old one. Usually faulty solder joints on the module circuit board cause these issues. Look for cracks on the solder joints labelled (below): Image Unavailable, Please Login If no cracks, resolder them anyway. Maybe you could try wiggling the relay with the turn signals turned on to see if there is any change in behaviour?
Thank you Quavion and Fcar Tech for taking your time. Yes all bulbs work. When activating the Warning (Emer) Lights, all lights stay lit, including the triangle and turn arrows in the dash, and the light also turns on on the Emer light button on center pedestal. When stalk switch is left/right, that corresponding side stay lit, with the arrows in the dash also lit. Yes it is unlikely two brand new relays from the Ferrari dealer in Oslo are faulty, but they were both in opened packages, and black and not green as the original one. I have ordered a Hella 4DB 006 716-041 equivalent relay online, and waiting for its arrival, crossing fingers. This is just mind boggling..
My original relay looks just like the one in your picture, with no visible breaks that I can see. Should I just resolder the ones you marked? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's worth a try. The only pins common to both L & R sides are the power pin ("30" on my photo) and the earth pin ("31") . Try soldering those first. Image Unavailable, Please Login I normally use a wedge shaped tip on my soldering iron to get maximum heat transfer.
There have been a couple of FChatters who have had no visible cracks, but resoldering fixed their flasher problems anyway.
Super many thanks to Quavion, and some very useful information for others who experiences this problem in the future. I received the aftermarket (for BMW) relay today, and all blinkers blink. I am ecstatic The relay 4DB 006 716-041 was not available at my distributors, but a OEM equivalent recommendation that I received WEHRLE 54 225 003 A Blinkgeber 12V worked perfectly. Note this is Europe spec, where there is no light in the blinkers except for when they are supposed to blink, so I am unsure how this will work in DOT (US) cars. Anyhow, if you have problems with Ferrari relay, try a different relay from another brand. This was also produced in Italy, and is date stamped 11/22 vs the 2011 relay I received from Ferrari. The one is taller, so the original casing will probably not fit, so I will have to come up with an adapter to screw it in place. No I can return the $260 relay to Ferrari, and buy some beers for the difference I saved. BMW relay was $80 here in Norway. Quavion, if you are in Orlando, DC, Fort Worth or Phoenix, I can buy you a beer sometime. That's were I frequent on Military TDYs. Best to all, and cheers
Indeed. Thanks for the tip on Wehrle.... Australian cars are the same as Euro cars. Still curious to know if resoldering the old relay would have fixed the problem.
I am on vacation at the moment, but I will give it a try when getting home. I will update here when accomplished
I had to heat up the soldering iron to 375 C to get the pins hot enough to melt the solder, but to no avail. The relay is still dead after resoldering the 12v and gnd pins. But the problem was resolved, so happy camper here.
