How much lower is the Stradale vs the "standard" 360? I'm really wondering about the nose mostly. (speed bumps, driveways, etc.) Thanks,
I checked the sales brochures or owners manuals and they do not provide specifications for ground clearance or approach angles. My only plea is that you don't allow this to be a selection criteria.
Probably the same height as a regular 360 when brand new from the factory due to U.S. bumper height regulations, as every other car is jacked up when we get them compared to the European models. But they are adjustable.
Well, I do remember high-centering on rough roads in a Stradale. Funny, the faster I went, the less I noticed it... Dale
The Stradale is much lower than a standard 360. Skid blocks and slow entrances are important. Not sure the exact amount but probably 1/2" to 3/4". I am sure someone has the spec in mm's. If I come across it I will repost. Take a look at some of the pictures with the front tire into the wheel arch.
I'm trying to buy a CS (another story). I have to say, I'm really concerned that I will not be able to get it into and out of my garage without beating it up (or at all). I live in one of those communities where the sidewalk has a "rounded" curb that is exactly the same everywhere, meaning its one height along the street and still the same height and curve where the driveways are. Its gotta be 6 or more inches high and the transition from street level to sidewalk/garage level is that +6 inches in about 10 inches of travel (60% incline). I have some thinking to do (and creating with plywood or something) to safely get the car in and out. Where are the physics majors who can help me sort this out while I don't have the car? (obviously easy to do with the car, but I don't have one and when I get one it will come off the truck and I sure hope I can garage it that night!)
Agree with others that curb height is not the best decision criteria ;-) That said what you are describing will likely be a major headache... The CS sits really low - and it is very very painful when you do accidentally scrape the front a bit underneath... The curb you are describing will not work well - think you need to get work done on the sidewalk/driveway or keep the CS somewhere else... But please do find a way! The CS is by far the most exciting car I've ever driven
I can't do anything permanent to the curb in front of the house. I could "create" something out of plywood and pull it in/out of the garage everytime in drive the car (not too fun/cool). I could store it elsewhere, but honestly I'd never drive it then and frankly just not get one. I'm actually more worried about "high siding or centering" the car between the axles than the front overhang (worried about that too)...
I live in one of those exact neighborhoods too! A couple of 2x4s will take care of it - that along with an angled approach.
Honestly, My CS handles speed bumps and other road obstacles better than the AM Vantage I had before. I never scrape anything except maybe the nose every now and then. I have the skid plates. It really hasn't been a problem.
Would this help? I suspect it would be useful for someone in this community http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/in+your+garage/garage+accessories/curb+bridge.do
I live in a similar neighborhood in Chandler. As long as you approach and exit at an angle, you won't scrape.
