I am LIGHTLY (read ... LIGHTLY!!!) toying with the idea of selling my 360 and replacing it with a CS. I think we can all agree that the CS is an EXCEPTIONAL car in every way. However, I am having trouble with two points. First, there is the relative cost to benefit ratio. There is a substantial cost difference between my "regular" 360 and a CS ... probably $80k give or take. Second, there is the matter of mileage. I don't mind putting miles on my 360. The 850+ miles I put on two weeks ago during the Scuderia Rampage event was 850+ miles of exhiliration! If I had a CS I might have passed on the event simply because of the excessive mileage issue. And NO - owning both is not an option! Anyway, herein lies the dilemma. An EXCEPTIONAL car to own and drive once in a while or a slightly less exceptional car to own and drive whenever and wherever. Hmmmm ...

Own you car...don't let it own you!

I'd say reconcile yourself to putting the miles on the CS before you consider really doing it!

Otherwise just keep the one you have and drive as much as you like!

Jeffrey does 6 speed versus F1 matter to you?

The CS is a great car, but I agree with Darth. If you are worried about mileage, not even worth owning the car. Just my .02

When you got your 360 you most likely tried to keep the miles down too. That goes away as you get your first rock chips and all that jazz.

Look deep inside yourself and seek out the red lights and green lights. Gentle hints give the best answer.

    Or...ask the real boss: Jennifer

    Challenge Stradale I say :)

Jeffrey, I like your 360 (Giallo Modena). I love that painted rear defusser, gives that lower/aggressive stance from the back...

Its just a car. If you're worried about putting milage on it, don't buy it. Get the poster instead.

Not unless you've got $$ burning a hole in your pocket, just hold out for a 430. Personally I'd miss the finished feel, leather etc. of the 360. As an added car to the stable, now that's a different story ;)

Jeffrey, I did the exact same thing.... I had yellow 360 sold and bought a yellow CS. I havent regreted it for a second!!! I will say, knowing the 430 was going to be out in a couple of months and i could get one for about the same $$$ made it a tough decision, but I can also tell you i have NO intentions on trading the CS for a 430. Im sure the 430 is great! But the CS is a wonderful/exciting and believe it or not MORE comfortable than my previous 360. Good Luck!! let us know what you decide.

You're probably right. I really love the CS but I honestly think I would not be able to overcome the mileage hurdle with such a special car. It would most likely be a garage queen. So many of the Stradales for sale have less than 4k miles and a bunch have 2k miles or so. Crap! I don't drive that often but 2k to 4k miles seems like nothing!
Although I prefer manual there is no choice in the CS. Besides, a change might be nice! :)
She is the real boss!! ;)
Scott - I have a feeling "holding out" might be longer than I want to wait. :) The car is already $200k at sticker which is about the same as a CS. The CS is such a special car that if I were offered both cars at the same price (not considering the speculative value of the 430) - I would probably take the CS over the 430 right now.
Aaahh ... I see the light ... less is more, less is more ...

No offense to 360 owners, but while a nice car, it just never "did it" for me. I even drove a coupe w/F1, wasn't impressed.

However, after riding in Kevin's spyder (I'm a whore for a convertible), I really liked the car. I guess just not a coupe for me....but wait, I rode in Joe's Stradale. Damn, if I had to choose, I swear, it'd be *really* tough. I like how barren the interior of the CS is, but it looks clean. And the suspension, fantastic (CS).

Tough call....wait for a 430CS, the 360CS will drop like a rock (well, a crumbling rock)

Hmmm tough call Jeffrey. If you ever gave me a ride on the 360, I might be able to form an opinion!! :) I have never even been in a 360. :(

I would vote for the Stradale. I love the car..... But ya got to drive it. I'm selective where I drive the TR, but I still managed to put 3k miles on it this year. Don't get the Stradale if you are going to drive it even less than that.

The stradale is a driving car! I cant see you sitting on that very long. You will find yourself staring into the garage..........then you will lose control and be all about town!!

But seriously. If there is a 430 CS coming out. Wait for the prices to drop a little on the current CSs or wait for winter to buy.

I went to see the previews on the new 430 spider and modena, I must say I wish I had some of the features of the newer models. But I like the lines of our cars!!!

Im waiting for prices to drop on th F50

I decided against it as I could not justify the $100K difference between the trade-in value of my 00 360F1 and a new CS (out the door). I drove the CS both on the street and on the track. It is a magnificient machine but definitely not worth the difference UNLESS you go to the track once a month or more (bragging right aside). Two of my buddies did it (traded their 360 for a CS) and they have yet to enjoy the CS on the track after a few months of ownership.

Let's look at it another way..... Jennifer, don't read this.....
Would you rather live with a girl that is an 8 everyday, or date a high maintenence 10 only on the weekends????

without a doubt, pick the stradale, quaranteed adrenalin rush. the 430 will be faster, but without the nervousness of the stradale.

It's definately a hard decision. The key for me is weighing the enjoyment of special ownership (the CS) and some driving against the enjoyment of "regular" ownership and considerably more driving.
Steve - Haven't heard of the "stradle" model. Is it new?? ;)
430CS? Likely a LOOONG wait for that one. Could be years. I'm not a very patient kind of guy!
Jeeez Jerr ... any time you want a ride just ask. In fact, this weekend! If we go over to Rick's for the race I'll bring the F-car and we'll go for a ride! You're too nice of a guy. You never ask and me being as selfish as I am ... I never think to ask!! ;)
You're probably right Mark. The start of Summer is hardly the time to be looking to buy an exotic. All those poor suckers who have been frozen to death for months are thawing out and thinking about sports cars, boats, and all the fun toys they couldn't use these past six months. Now their hormones are raging and they're out to find that toy to play with. It always happens with the powerboats. Best time to buy is when the chill starts to set in and they realize they do not want to own their boats for the whole winter! :)
That is the other problem. Usage is one thing. The substantial price difference is another. $80k+ is not small potatoes! We all agree that the CS is special ... even super special. But I think the smart thing to do is be patient. As hard as that is for me to do ... it is probably the right thing to do. Otherwise I'll end up paying too much for a car I will drive less! That would be a bummer! :(
Hey RD! That is one funny analogy! A very good one though! Hmmm ... that is definately a tough call! I guess it would be like me being able to drive my car four weekends a month versus one weekend a month for the Stradale. Hmmmm ...

Yup, hope CS prices drop sometime soon... What is the average donwpayment would you need on a pre-own CS anyways?

    Thanks

80-100K is a lot of dough for the differences between a regular 360 and a 360CS. You could easily modify your 360 to similar performance levels for a fraction of that. I'm assuming that if your worried about milage here and there that 80K isn't exactly pennies to you. Just remmeber if your paying 80-100K more for that car it has to give you 80-100K more worth of pleasure. There are so many other cool automotive toys you could buy for 80K to compliment your 360, that you could enjoy your 360 and enjoy something else and spend lots of time in. You could build yourself a mumford style viper and track that without worrying about things like milage, rock chips, etc...run faster lap times, and just have a blast at the track. Also I've seen earlier model Diablo's go for ~120k so you could have a drasticially different type of car to enjoy to compliment your 360. There are so many options... I just don't see the 360CS being different enough from the 360 to justify the price difference. Thats what I would do, unless I was on unlimited budget and 80-100k didn't mean much to me.
