I am looking for a 360 F1 Modena in the next few months. Now here's the question. There are currently 2 intersting cars advertised, one with 60000kms year 2000 advertised at $240k and one with 5000 kms year 2005 (actually 2004 as no Modena's were made in 05) advertised at $360k.

Now lets forget the actual sell price for now.

What I want to know is would you buy the 2000 model or the 2004 model and for what reasons? BTW: It will be used for track days, club drives and 1-2 times a week.

i would go for the 2004 cause its got lower km's and the 2003 has a bit to much on the clock

the 04 car still has a lot to fall price wise after you buy but 00 car has too many clicks on the clock but is 120k cheaper , hard choice i guess , good luck

I agree with scud as the 04 will still depreciate more over the next couple of years. Id buy the 00 and use the $120K for repairs/improvements to the car. As you said it will see track work. Use the money you save for new slicks/tyres,new clutches, brake pads,or suspension improvements ect..... Although $120K wont get you as far as you probably think it will  hehe

Buy the low KM car for current market value, if you can.

Market value is whatever gets the car. Money talks, BS walks.

i could almost guarantee, that you could get most 1999 or 2000 model cars for around $240-250k irrespective of the K's,

try find yourself a lower k 2000 model, and you'll still get it for the same money.

I beleive Galleria Veloce have one listed for $239k with something like 12k's on it if memory serves.

All I can say is... when it comes time to sell the '00 360 with something like 80,000 kms on the clock... Good luck!

Thanks guys. Useful info. I am tending towards the 04 Modena but the price would have to start with a 2. It seems the price difference between a 96 and 99 F355 does not vary much so would assume the same for 360's between 00 and 04 (maybe $40-$50k difference). Hence sub $300k.

    Any opinions.

because the 360 is a relatively recent model, there will be a price difference between old and new cars, however as they get older say another 5 - 10 years, then the price will be dictated more on condition and history of the car rather than age IMO.

Wholesale on '99-'00 360's has been under 200K for a long time now. $240K should buy an immaculate low km car IMO.

Got it with 34983km,now has 37291km on the clock. All genuine km's. I have all the service history paper work/repairs from when the car was new :)

Very correct. The other very valid point made is the difficulty in offloading a very high km car when the time comes. Years ago I knew a guy who had an immaculate 328 with 175,000km's on the clock. He just couldn't get anyone to buy it even though the condition was better than most.

Buy a high mileage car cheap for sure; but be prepared to own it for a LONG time...

what i was thinking. i'm with goobs, if you want a car to drive, buy it for yourself and forget what the next guy wants.

but yeah the answer to the question is the question itself, if you're having a hard time convincing yourself to get a high-mileage item, think how hard it'll be for the next guy.

If you've got time on your side - sit and wait till the right car for you comes along (you generally know what you want). Otherwise I'd suggest opting for the 04 over the 00 - low km's and youth are the keys (no pun intended).
