Hi - has anyone every tried 360 Modena wheels on a 412? If not, can anyone tell me the width and offset dimension on 412 wheels? (360 are apparently 28MM offset front, 30MM offset rear).

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dave

I think Testarossa wheels might fit, I've never seen 360 wheels on a 412.

Here are 360 offsets. Your numbers are off by quite a bit. On late wheels, the offsets are cast in the back of the wheels. Not sure about the 412 wheels and nobody has ever given me the offsets.

In trying to make my car look more masculine by replacing the OEM 15's, I searched high and low for any potential replacements that would somewhat update the exterior look of my '85 400i, with no budget in mind. The biggest issue with me from an aesthetic perspective had been that I had not seen one with some step lipped, deep-dish, tasteful wheel choice. Most 412's have a straight wheel, the TR wheels are also very flat and to me, its not flattering on a car the size of ours.

There are some instances where upgrading a car's wheels from a newer model of the same manufacturer compliments the car - but its a tricky ordeal. These cars were originally designed in the '70's and anything larger than a 17' wheel might look out of place.

After months of researching, I opted to have a set of custom made wheels made for the car by Image Wheels out of the UK. The car has been under restoration and re-engineering to improve 100's of areas where the fellas at the assembly line in Maranello may have had too much vino, so I will not post pics of the build until finished, but my point is that sometimes, thinking outside the box is good. In your case, swapping wheels is indeed a good example of such approach.

But for me, thinking outside the warehouse full of boxes ended up exceeding my very high expectations. Search my posts about wheels for my car and you will find pics of a 400 that I kept for 10+ years because I dreamt of owning one for a very long time, but all the while knowing that I would stop at nothing to make mine even better than those around it, like the rest of the cars I own.

To those who prefer maintaining everything OEM, God bless you! But, please keep in mind that not everyone who owns these fine machines evoke the same sentiments as you, so be mindful of those of us who strive to make our cars uniquely individual.
