I am in the process of removing the black sticky goo from various parts. The only parts left to do are the windscreen demist vents, but I cant see how to remove them.

Does anyone know how they are removed and refitted, ideally without removing the entire dash!

    Thanks

There are a few different threads on here discussing those vents and cleaning / replacing them. I don't know of any way of removing them without removing the dash. They are screwed in from below. If you force them out from the top, you will break them and leave the bolts that hold them in loose in the vents or somewhere else in the dash. There is a video on YouTube that shows the dash removal and you get a clear picture of how they mount. Near the end at 30:42.

If your vents are just sticky (not broken) you can clean them in place. I used Leatherique to remove the sticky finish and left them just bare black plastic. My dash is black so if you get any of the sticky paint on the dash it doesn't show, Might be really hard to do if you have a light colored dash. Search and read the different threads it helped me.

Just done mine, my vents were the only bit of sticky plastic left to do but dash is in perfect condition so didn't want to remove it, so as they were also cracked I just pulled the old vents out, bought some new vents and used contact adhesive to refit new ones, nice and quick and they are nice and secure.
