I removed the sticky items from my 360 and sent them to SNM with exception of the windshield defroster vent. I am not planning to remove the dash. I've seen several folks say they removed the vent by breaking the clips. If someone has done this please let me know how you did and with what tool/s. Cleaning in place is too risky using any solution.

I would not mess with it. Cheaply made, breaks easy and warps as well. Not worth the trouble.

I wish somebody made a metal replacement, I would be first in line to purchase one.

No it is really easy. If you have deviated stitching you will need to be careful but it is very doable. I did my own. Plan on using a lot of terry cloth rags. You can get them at Costco. I like to put them through the wash before I use them to get the manufacturing process oils or whatever is on them off and they are more absorbent afterwards too.

I used a thin large piece of cardboard against the window and some masking tape over my threads on the dash.

Here is how it is done...
Put your cleaner de-jour on the rag and wipe one direction across the vents.
You only need to wet the part of the rag that is going to be wiped.
Wipe in one stroke from one end to the other
    Look at rag.
Make a determination if you can fold rag to a new clean spot or start over with new rag
    wet with cleaner, repeat.

I used leather conditioner as my cleaner
You can also use denatured alcohol
If neither of these work for you your vents are not ready to be de-stickied so just enjoy your car.

I pulled mine and most of the retention pegs were broken off flush with the under surface. My vent pieces were broken into a dozen pieces and were gooey.

There are no nuts on the underside, there are no fir tree leaves on the stem, it is a cylindrical stem and it fits into a very insignificant hole in some sheet metal. Basically a low tolerance loose fit. The funnel shape of the trim piece that fits into the leather retains better than the stems or pegs.

I used a set of plastic prying spoons and forks available on the web. And cleaned all the smudgy black streaks off with denatured alcohol.

All toll, one stem was attached to the original pieces, one stem could be spotted in the dash hole, and the remaining were AWAL. The broken stems were no where to be found. They may have rolled back to the bottom of the air plenum.

I was able to get them close to fully seated. Tomorrow I have an appointment to drop off my 360 Spider (2004) to have the windshield replaced. The plan was to jump in to see and get a closer look to what is happening in that little void at the front when the windshield in out.

More to follow. Maybe some pictures.

FWIW the term is AWOL (absent w/o official leave), not AWAL.

Do try to find the broken mounting pegs. They can possibly get caught in the actuator that diverts the air as selected. I have heard of doing so with a small nozzle and hose vacuum. Others have used a wire hanger with tape balled up on the end. Sticky side exposed.

You can clean these no problem but how about if they are warping due to heat/wear/etc.? No solution other than replacement...

Certainly no need remove these vents and risk breakage etc. It will take a little elbow grease and a number of terry cloth wash cloths. I used "Leatherque Cleaner" as my solvent. Apply a fair amount to the sticky Vents to soften them up the night before planned removal of the sticky stuff. When removing the stickies keep your wash cloths moist with solvent, fold over cloth as necessary when soiled. On initial removal no need to be unidirectional, but do so as you near final cleaned surface. Using the leatherque small smudges on your leather are not a problem as the product is not hard on the leather and comes of easily with the cleaner. One word of caution is make the point of contact of the cloth on the plastic for the most part as don't forget Ferrari Leather is only surface dyed. Color of the plastic pieces after cleaning is great with no issues. Did my 360 last year with no issues what so ever. Will probably take about 30-40 min. per vent with coffee in between. When finished treat your dash with Leatherique Cleaner and Leatherique conditioner per instructions.
