Hello. Fairly new Ferrari owner. I've noticed the last couple of times driving my 360, the sport mode keeps turning off. Sometimes it's on when I start the car, but seems to turn off at some point during the drive. Then I can't get it back on. Or it's not on at start up and when I flip the switch, the light comes on for a second, then turns off. Any ideas or thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.

The switch should be a 2 position. Forward on, back off. If the switch is not staying forward I know why and it needs to be fixed.

The switch definitely stays in position whether it's on or off (it doesn't toggle back on it's own). When the sport mode isn't working, I can flip the switch to off, then flip to the on position. The dummy light will say "sport mode" for just a second. Then turns off, followed by the clutch being less dramatic shifting (as in sport mode off).

I would still diagnose the switch function which can be done with an ohm meter or a jumper. If the switch is working, it might be a wire issue or the TCU

You can swap one of the other two position switches with the Sport switch and see if it works. Except for the markings, the two position switches are identical.

The TCU is playing no role at all in the Sport mode selection. It is just listening the CAN bus to know in which mode it is supposed to work. The Sport/Normal mode is broadcasted by the dash according to what it sees on its input, and as reflected by the Sport light.

The Sport/Normal mode signal is going from the switch, to the suspension ECU, then from the suspension ECU to the dash (see diagram). Agreed that the switch is the most probable culprit. If not, the complete path to the dash should be tested.

Those switches are not identical. The sport switch has a maintained contact, while the other two switches are momentary. You'd have to hold the switch up with your finger while driving.

For testing, the sport switch can be unplugged and temporarily replaced with either a jumper, or any switch that has a maintained contact. The wiring block in the back of the switch has spade terminals, so it's easy to connect a test switch.

I agree, I'd just pull the switch, use a small piece of wire, strip the ends, and make a jumper and insert into the wires from your car that go into the switch, this should put you in sport mode ALL the time if it is a switch issue.

If you drop out of sport mode with the jumper wire in place, then your problem is at least not the switch.

Switch failing is not uncommon for this problem, I have read this before.

    Good luck!

Eric - when I said TCU, I meant the suspension ECU. Replying from my phone so I slipped with the nomenclature.

Terry was suggesting to use another 2 position switch, and those are identical. But, he owns a 575 which has several and I think a 360 only has the one

Is this a new behavior or you don’t know when it started? It is possible that someone connected to the wrong switches some time in the past so it is hooked to a momentary switch.

In the 360, all the switches are momentary, except for the sport switch. That includes the switches in the tunnel console.

Dave, Rugby- Yup, should have looked in the 360 OM. My 575M has two additional two position switches for lights that the 360 does not have.

Thank you for all them feedback everyone.

To answer the question, this is a new problem. It was working fine before and nobody has worked on the vehicle for some time.

There are 5 pins behind the switch. Does anyone know which recepticles to place a jump across or have a wiring diagram for that location?

This happened in my car. Turns out the switch was broken, replaced it and it worked perfectly.
