I want to convert my 99 360F1 to manual and before anyone says ‘sell it an buy a manual’ I can’t as the arse has fallen out of the market in the UK and looks to be set that way for some time to come.

I have seen a number of threads on this subject but they all say ‘it would cost a fortune’ but don’t actually say what parts would be required.

I understand the gearbox and clutch are identical on F1 and manuals so in my simple mind the major parts I would need are the gear linkage, pedal box {assuming the F1 has a unique pedal box rather than just a missing clutch pedal} and then junk all the F1 paraphernalia?

I appreciate that using new parts would be prohibitively expensive but there are quite a few 360s being broken and it may be possible to do it using second hand parts.

Any views – ideally helpful ones – would be welcomed.

    TIA Andy

Can you trade cars with someone that wants the F1?

I would not do it. Better to trade with someone for manual - finally you will save money and time.

IMO if you will rebuild it, beside that money and work, you will also kill resale value. I know its maybe not important, but you never know when you decide to sell the car.

I wouldn't attempt it. As previously mentioned, sell your F1 and buy a manual. Yes, the "arse has fallen out of the market" at the mo, but it's all relative, the manual has taken the hit too!

Andy, that would be a long and difficult job, you would need a complete donor car to do it. Once you start adding up all the small bits and pieces you would see what a financially daunting task it would be. Although the clutch might be the same, you would still need to remove the gearbox and swap the throw-out bearing with a manual one, as the seals are different and would disolve with brake and clutch fluid running over them. The redundant pipework, feed tubes and clutch sensor would have to be replaced with manual bits. You would have to run a clutch pipe from the front of the car, fit a new pedal frame with the third pedal as well as a clutch master cylinder. All the linkages would have to be fitted, plus the stick, gate etc. and a different cluster. The paddles would need ditching and the column shrouds replacing...etc,etc,etc........
