What should the cost of the belt service be on a 360 Spider? New Clutch? I'm trying to figure out which car to purchase and factor in the cost of cars that are newly serviced versus those that need service now. THX Jeff

Should be less than 10k, 8-9 sounds better.

I was in your position recently looking at 360s. Unsure about clutch, but belt service was quoted low of $2500 to around $4000 by independent shops.

+1- sounds about right. My car's "big serivice" (timing belts, fluids etc) was done last year by the car's prior owner at an independant with ferrari expertise for under $4K.

$10K would probably be the cost from a dealer for belt + clutch if you wanted to go that route...

If you have some mechanic skills you can do a lot of the service by yourself using some good threads from the members here. With them help I realize how easy is to work with my 360. Now I really enjoy my car in the streets and in my garage.

PD. Thanks again to those members that take time from their busy live to always post excellent threads here to help others. Great members!!!

And those are exactly the shops you should not be taking the car to. The parts run between $2000 and $2700 depending one what is needed. That does not leave them enough for labor to do a quality job by a long shot. They are either low balling you or are taking serious short cuts.

I had my 15K service performed (belts, plugs, oils, various inspections, etc,) a few months back by a knowledgeable local shop for well under $3K.

I don't think he took any shortcuts either.

So sorry Mr Anderson, I misread your post. I was referring to a clutch job. Depending on region and labor costs about $4000 to $5000 for a complete and thorough major service. A straight up belt job is much less.

My clutch was around $6k-$7k at the dealer; originally quoted for around $4k.
One thing to keep in mind is that the model year plays a small part in the cost.
Mine was a little bit more $$$ because I had several "out of date" parts (I have a 2000MY) that needed to be swapped out before the clutch kit could be installed. I'm sure this was the first time the clutch was replaced.

I'm probably messing up the details, but basically if you have never had these clutch components updated, you will need to do this at the time of the clutch replacement.

I had belts & tensioners done on my '00 360 for ~$5K about 6 months ago by authorized dealer (i.e., including $$$+ for labor). Haven't had the "pleasure" of doing a clutch (yet), but have heard ~$3K (for non-F1 car). Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    James
