I have #19343 which is the second from last 365BB made. It has original orange lenses. It does not have a lip on the front spoiler. It does have the 512 gearbox though - this gearbox was fitted to the last seven 365's.

    Simon,
I saw the photos of your car on the "Berinetta Boxer Registry" thread. It is gorgeous. I did not realize before how good the car looks in black. I did not realize that the last few cars received 512 gearboxes. Are all of the gear ratios and final drive ratio the same as the 512? Also, are those the original style Michelin XWX tires? Regards,

    Steve

    2 Hours LEFT!!!

    Get out your checkbook!!!

I think if it has moved $600 total from the first bid, in seven days, that could be considered an internet "yawn"!

    Wonder what reserve is........probably $70K..

He'd better take it to a body shop, get rid of the wing and find the stock wheels....maybe try again.....

The 512 gearbox has taller ratios than the 365 box, obviously designed to take advantage of the 512 motor's additional torque. Mating this box to a 365 will change the performance profile to some degree, which is why I asked the question.

Apologies for the delay in replying. I have teh following information on teh geraboxes on teh the later 365BB's suplied by Marcel Massini, as I recall:

"Firstly, the 365 Boxer had 4 final drive changes:

    #17185 to #17535 13/45
    #17543 to #18167 12/45
    #18169 to #18787 11/43
    #18955 to #19445 12/45

At some stage near the end of production, the 365 BB received an uprated rear differential bearing carrier similar (Possibly the same) to the 512BB. I believe this may have been fitted to the last 7 365BB's. Rear differential bearings and transaxle problem plagued the 365 Boxer. If a replacement transmission housing was ordered, the factory always supplied the 512 style housing which was stronger around the differential carrier bearings. Looking at the construction of the 365 transaxle, in my unqualified opinion, I believe the housing distorted in the area of the differential carrier bearings. This led to excessive loads placed on the crownwheel as well as the bearings themselves. I have seen 3 Australian cars with failed differential carrier bearings leading to destruction of the crownwheel and pinion along with the cracking on the transaxle housing."

The serial numbers from #18955 are:

    365 GT4/BB 18955
    365 GT4/BB 19071
    365 GT4/BB 19085
    365 GT4/BB 19153
    365 GT4/BB 19177
    365 GT4/BB 19199
    365 GT4/BB 19239
    365 GT4/BB 19247
    365 GT4/BB 19257
    365 GT4/BB 19323
    365 GT4/BB 19343
    365 GT4/BB 19445

My car is #19343, the second from last 365BB and the last right-hand drive 365BB made. You can see the differential housing is different when comparing this to an earlier 365BB belonging to a friend of mine (chassis #17535). I do not know about the gearbox ratios though. I do know that my car has it's original gearbox because I have the Heritage Cerificate from the factory confirming that 'my' gearbox number was originally fitted to my car.

    Simon,
Thanks for the info. on the 365 Boxer transmissions. I had no idea that the final drive ratio changed throughout the production run.
