Before going out to a wider audience in the FChat classified ads, I thought I would let my local Ferraristi and gearhead friends in the Mid-Atlantic Region know that I am selling my 1974 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer #17511. I drove the Boxer to the Tom Yang Vintage Ferrari show Saturday morning and drove my 1969 365 GTC home from the show in the afternoon. (Yes, I know, I suffer so with such crap-y cars, but someone has to do it!) The back-to-back drives in the two vintage Ferraris on the same day crystallized my thoughts about them: I like the GTC more than the Boxer. I am glad I decided to take the plunge and scratch the itch I had for the iconic 365 BB, but it is not a keeper for me.

Richard Capoccia at Competizione just completed a multi-week project on the Boxer that produced significant improvements and returned the car to original spec including the fixed-back buckets and triple (per side) exhaust tips. The car tracks really well and isn't darty, the new steering rack is more precise, the new clutch is dramatically improved, the tach works properly, and the motor revs like crazy. As some of you may know from the Mason Dixon Rally last fall, the noises when a 365 BB is in full song at 7500 rpm are quite special.

This 365 BB has had just three U.S. owners since 1975, all of whom maintained the car without regard to cost. It underwent a bare metal repaint (photo documented) in 1988 and complete engine rebuild. The timing belts and tensioners were replaced again less than three years ago. The car comes with rare 9” comp Daytona Cromodoras on the rear, four brand new tires, an original tool case, rare space saver spare wheel and tire, original books, and a cardboard box full of invoices, notes, and photos dating back to 1975. It is a solid #2 driver in my opinion, and is ready to rock for a new owner for a number of years to come without any near-term need for costly scheduled maintenance.

Below is a photo of the car taken by Ken Visser at this year's Tom Yang Vintage Ferrari Event. If anyone is interested in more information, please contact me by PM or email ([email protected]).

Bob, check the date of my first post in this thread--MAY 2012. That was six months before our photo shoot with the Boxer! If I had the gorgeous photos you took of the car when I started this thread, I would have used them! The thread had been dormant for many months. Someone revived it yesterday with a new message. Hope this helps. Still friends?

Sometimes I'm jonesing for something to post on here, and there's not much interesting going on.

Any action on the car yet?

Glad we're square, Bob. There has been the occasional e-looker at the car, but I haven't been advertising it at all, as I finally took delivery of the original transaxle and other parts that need to go back on the car to bring it back to original spec. Once that is done, I'll see which way the ball is bouncing. I drove the Boxer last Friday. It flat out hauled!

And to Don S, that is one stunning car. Classically beautiful, truly functional art.

Havent seen you on here for awhile. If your posting I take it the hormone replacement therapy is going well and the nausea is subsiding. I passed a fashion bug women's clothing store the other day and thought of you. You're finally free Joe. Thankfully, your daughter is young enough that she won't know what life was like before she had two "moms"

    :D

Oh and Don. You should keep a donkey around too, it's more reliable than your Lotus. Also, unlike when you drive the Lotus, when people call you an A$$, you can console yourself in the comfort that they may be talking about the donkey :p

Oh, sexy boxer BTW. The only thing that would make it sexier would be if it had a single mirror and slats on the sides ;)

Yes, but, when something drops off you wouldn't want to pick it up. :D

Don, I was expecting you to say something more along the lines of, "Sure, Joe, as long as you promise to pick up whatever might drop off, as with the Lotus."

    :)

Either way you can't make a donkey out of what drops off. At least we're back on topic. :)

Sorry DonS, but it does keep your car ad near the top.
