    Hey Guys-

I accidentally posted this in model specific as well, it may be better in here though... But here it goes.

I am new to the forum (its a great resource!), and curious if any of you can shed some light on a project I have... I searched for my problem, and asked many experts, and cant seem to get a firm response, other than "It isnt right", but i just need to know what part is supposed to be in there!

I have a 365 gt (67) , that got brought to me in pieces, specifically the transmission was absolutely, totally apart, which isn't a big deal, except i have a unusual piece that i cannot find in the parts manual or otherwise (Or i should say I cannot find what I have). The only "stamped" number i could find was on the tailshaft housing, 591.735.R, with a casting number (on the main housing) of 591.5232.66. The car is pretty nice, and i could assume its original.

The problem is with the 5th gear thrust washer that i have, I believe to be incorrect (or modified at least), and which one is correct?

Its the 5th gear thrust washer (distenziale #11 in the diagram below), which sits between the spider (nucleo #10) and the 5th gear cluster bearing (#24 race and associated). I have confirmed without a doubt that it was installed in that position.

The washer in question is split (?, has marks indicating it was cut), but i cannot find any factory evidence of this, however appears to be a factory washer with oil recesses. The factory parts drawing shows a internally splined washer (that I would assume sits on the splined plane on the shaft). The split washer in question (that i have) sits on the smooth/smaller part of the shaft, on the 5th gear /bearing plane, and is "squished" between the 5th gear race and the larger splines. The spider (nucleo) is indented/recessed on the 5th gear side as well.

Depending on which one is correct, it would obviously affect spacing of both, depending on splined or not. (apparently it was a operating transmission previous , and was dissasembled for a 1/2 synchro issue). If its correct, and just cut out of a shortcut sometime in its past, finding a "whole" washer isnt an issue. However, if it is supposed to be a splined washer, that changes a few things. I just would like the correct parts either way, I just cannot find a definite answer either way.

Any ideas? Is it possibly an earlier (later?) transmission, or shaft? Is the diagram possibly drawn incorrectly? No one can seem to shed any light on this, other than it doesnt seem right, which i agree with, however it seems to have been there a long time, judging by the residue/wear marks. The factory washer is pretty hard to find (not exactly a high volume part, ha ha), and if thats what i need, no problem. I just would like to know definitely which one i need to chase down!

I attached a few pictures for reference, along with the factory 365 diagram. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
