Currently, my 365 gt/4 2+2 does not have its hood pad installed and I would like to install it. I'm unsure, however, as to how the install should proceed. I have attached a photo that shows a long bracket that apparently gets screwed into the hood and holds the pad in place. My car does not have these brackets nor does it have any holes into which these brackets would be screwed. Does anyone have their pads affixed differently? If the bracket is the only way to go, any ideas on sourcing a pair? OEM? Replacement? Or should this be a DIY project?

Second issue....I was also wondering if anyone had a guidance on the trim ring that surrounds the shifter boot, as shown in the below photo? I do not have one. Is mine missing or was this trim only installed on some cars? Is this made from unobtainium or can I potentially find this out in the market somewhere?

I've just been down to take a look at my 400i. It has similar brackets, but they are riveted not screwed on. Also, the top corners have brackets, too - I've found a photo that shows these:

As 22579 is going back together, I'm resurrecting this thread in hopes of someone knowing a source for the same shifter-boot trim ring. The chrome is separating from the plastic underneath.

These might be the vague "maybe" part numbers, 257-62-894-00, or included as part of 257-62-896-10, or maybe 257-80-886-02? Really can't tell.

Also, has anyone refinished the wood panel? kliko312's is gorgeous, while mine was sun-bleached to cloudy white, and is being carefully sanded down to the wood. Best finish coating?

Well, a week later, with the only success being identifying the correct part number as 257-62-894-00. It's NLA everywhere so far.

Anyone have a suggestion, source, secret stash......? I've been carefully, slowly sanding the clouded clear varnish off, avoiding further damage to the trim ring, but I'd like an alternative.
