Does anyone know how many of these were made and their approximate premium over the "normal" Daytona's? Thanks!

    Hi barnfound,

I belive nothing. I don't belive the "A" designation means anything except to say that I have seen it on many RHD Daytona's. Oddly, it does seem more prevalent in Australia at least on examples post plexiglass front so after about #14111 it seems more common. I can say I can't detect any mechanical difference at all despite what others may suggest.

I was told it was for factory engines with higher compression, and possibly slightly more aggressive cams, but I have no idea. I wonder where to go to find out the answer on this?

There is no difference between the 365GTB/4 and/4A. The early Daytona's were non-pop-up headlamps. The next version, with pop-ups for European market were /A. U.S.-market pop-ups were without the /A.

There are no parts represented in the parts book for higher performance (/A). All cams, etc., are the same for all 365s.

Thanks Jim, so all non US, series II delivered were designated "A"? When did the second version start? Out of the approximate 1300(1284?) Daytona's do we know how many were designated "A", and is there a premium for them? Sounds like no......

I believe the early Euro pop-ups were /A. The U.S. came over as non-A. Later Euro pop-ups were non-A.

There is no premium. Some would suggest that /A decreases value as they are Euro models. My opinion is that it does not matter.

    Have fun.

Jim S. is exactly right, there are no engine differences. The "A" designation was used on retractable headlamp "American types" while the plexiglass nose car was being phased out.
