My 1976 365BB was due a belt change late last year. When it suddenly lost all it's coolant on the garage floor (due to leaking front/rear cooling pipes) I decided to give it a cam belt service, change all the water and fuel hoses, and smarten up the engine andengine bay. It took me a long time, mainly as business commitments meant I could only work on it at weekends. I kept a simple photographic record as I went along, and I have at last got around to posting the pictures on the web. If your interested these are at:

There are also pictures of an engine and gearbox rebuild on my 1977 400 Auto.

    Very nice work.

What did use use to get the block so clean (other than elbow grease)?

Simon that is very interesting to see how the work progressed. The results look very clean and professional. Lots of room; looks like a nice setup to work on the Boxer. Do you know the month of manufacture for your Boxer? The early Boxer certainly has it's own special character! Thanks

    Hi Ernie

The engine/trans were cleaned with detergent and tehn painted. The painting is as per factory spec to prevent corrosion from salt etc.

    Hi CH

19343's Heritage Certificate states the date of manufacture as 21st May 1976. It is the last right-hand drive 365BB made, and the second from last of all 365BBs - there was one more left-hand drive after mine and before 512BB production started. My car actually has a number of 512 features such as gearbox, final drive etc.

Simon: some interesting history for your Boxer there. The 512 features would certainly give the 'experts' something to chew on! The file would not open but that may just be me...Thanks
