I was looking at pictures of different Ferraris and specifically the front.

How many of you have installed the 3M on the front of your Ferarri?

Would you recommend it to a future owner?

    Pros / Cons?

    Thanks,

I put it on the long euro front spoiler on my 308QV after it was rebuilt/repainted last time. It has made a BIG difference in virtually eliminating rock chips (unless they're REALLY big rocks). You *do* have to make an effort to clean any wax off the edges or the edges will show, but a soft toothbrush makes quick work of that.

I think it's a great product as long as it is installed properly. Can't really stress that part enough. I've had it done in the past by 3 different companies, but was never really happy with it. I could see it within 3-4 ft and was just nasty looking imo. Now I only go with one company - www.premiermobilegroup.com. They are the best at what they do especially when it comes to exotics.

I track my GT38-9 times per year, so the film takes some true punishment. The film does get damaged and chg it out every 2 yrs or so on my P-car. On the other hand, I also have it on my wife's SUV and haven't seen one penetration on the bra and this sees 50 miles / day. I guess it depends on road conditions and driving habits....I like to drive'em fast, so my Fcar's seeing more wear. Great stuff, but not indestructible. Be sure to get the company to do custom work if they are qualified to do it...makes a world of a difference when it comes to seams. I have my whole hoo ddone on the 360 - fyi.

I have a black 328 and had the 3M product put on my car about three years ago when I purchased the car. I was concerned about how it would look on a black car but it looks good as long as it is kept clean.

It does save the car and looks pretty good at the same time. I must agree that you need to keep the interface between the 3M product and the car clean. It makes getting bugs off the car easy and cleans up very well.

The product is applied across the entire front of the car including up the front of the car (fenders and front boot cover) about 18 inches, in the front and rear portions of each of the wheel wells and I may also get it installed above the windshield (notice a few chips there).

    Definitely recommend the product.

Yes the MVP 360 had one put on at the RUF center down in Dallas. RUF doesn't do it directly but somebody there does or uses their facilities, I'm not sure. Either way TOP NOTCH. Let me know if you want their contact information.

Personally I don't like them. I do not have them on any of my road cars, but one of the Challenge cars purchased from UK came with them. I was a little suprised, but previous owner of that 360C really kept the car in fantastic shape, and the clear bra install was quite professionally done.

Although I'm sure it does a great job of preventing stone chips, but visually I just don't like having the clear film no matter how "invisible" it is. It instantly reminds me of clear sofa covers. So I prefer to just enjoy the paint works and when the time comes, respray.

  8. I also recommend the 3M paint protection film. I had placed it on my 360 in Miami, and the same day I came out of the shop I had something jumped from the road and hit my fender, which luckly had the film on.

I had it also placed on the headlights, given the expensive these are once you have to replace them.

You have to decide what bothers you more, a number of paint chips (let's face it, you aren't going to paint more than once a year) or the presence of the film, which is really very hard to see if done right. To me, it's not even close, I hate looking at paint chips and it would drive me nuts to drive around for a year with them.

I was over at Premier's today having the windshield protection film applied onto my 360 and the owner, Sam, mentioned they are heading down to San Diego and Canada next month. Perhaps, you could persuade them to head out to your area. The best in the this type of work so far and believe me I've seen quite a bit in the past few years.

And, I just love how they hide the film and make it blend. Plus, they did the entire hood on mine and even if I point it out to my buddies, I'd have to open the hood for them to see the film wrapped under.

Paint protection film is essentially a product designed to provide protection from minor road debris. Installation skill is an absolute must if wanting to have it protect and blend well. Although custom installation is the way to go for it to be more seamless, there is also the consideration of whether or not custom would look better. It really comes down to how well it is installed.
