Okay, we've all heard the issues with run-flats: harsh ride, heavier, poor wear, bad handling, etc.

But, by reports, Bridgestone's 3rd gen RE960AS RFTs have addressed all those issues: thinner sidewalls, handling similar to non run-flats, crisper turn in than the non-RFT RE960s, tread wear 400.

    So, any experiences?

(I'm looking to put RE960/970 all seasons on the new car when it arrives, but I'm debating between RE970AS and the RE960AS RFT so I can recoup some trunk space.
(And I'm getting too old to stand by the side of the road with a silly scissors jack.)

I have some of the latest run flats on my BMW 1 series, and the ride is pretty comfortable. Don't know which model they are, I'll check later. My dad had previous gen RFT's on his 5 series and it had a pretty harsh ride. Mine are much better, but IIRC his were a lower profile.

The new Corvette is an example - actually makes the same grip with smaller tire sizes (for better transient handling and steering) with its new run-flats.

Had run flat dunlop all season on gtr. Great in snow and decent on track but $$$. Switched to bfg rival summer tire and transforms the ride. Like i gained a comfort switch. Run flats are way too uncomfortable
