For anyone who is planning to meet us in Mississippi: We will meet you at the gas station at the us-98/ 587 split. We will arrive there at around 9:30 am, give or take.
Just popping in to introduce myself and say that I hopefully will be there. I know that having new people come on drives can be a bit...challenging....at times, so I thought I'd introduce myself beforehand. =) First off, my name's Adam. I'm a Network Administrator for an engineering company in Baton Rouge (where I work with Tracy for those of you who know her...she actually told me about this drive.) I've also known Richard for about 4 years now, although I've regrettably fallen out of contact with him as of late. I don't drive a fast car by any stretch of the imagination (VW GTI) but I love driving, and would love to try and keep up with ya'll. I'm trying to convince my friend Kevin to come with me to help take some pictures. He's just getting into photography as a hobby, and I'm sure he'd love to come. I just bought a house on Monday, so moving and the weather are the only two things that would possibly keep me from coming. Hope to see ya'll Sunday, Adam
Nice to meet you (virtually I suppose). You really don't need a "fast" car to do the run. Its really about meeting other people in the area that are into driving. Thanks for the info about your friend. I hope you guys can make it on Sunday.
I'm in Hattiesburg, MS right now at my fiancee's parent's house, and her Dad seems to be interested in meeting us there as well in his Carrera 4. Hopefully he can meet us out there and add another car to the mix. =)
Is this event still going on? Its a 4hr drive just for me to get to the starting point at 7am! Seems awfully wet out for a nice Sunday drive? If so, how many people in stone are going?
Is this run still on? I brought my 911 to the first run, but may bring my Ford GT this time if the weather isn't bad.
Sorry guys, looks like bad news. I have waited on the weather for as long as possible; unfortunately, there is 100% chance of rain from Covington to Red Bluff tomorrow. WE WILL NOT BE MAKING THE RUN TOMORROW. I know that there is an autox event next Sunday, but if everyone would still like to reschedule for next Sunday December 2 please say so ASAP.
Frank, How do you like Halifax; any cool cars? You should try to make it over to the South West coast to check out the Cajun heritage and architecture. As I said the smoked salmon is the best in the world but I am sure you know that by now and you should try the honey and garlic sausage. Mitchell
Halifax is nice. Expensive but nice. I will make it out touring Cajun country before I leave. Most of the tourist stuff has been closed since I arrived , the season ended on Oct 31. I am in downtown Halifax so most stuff is in walking distance. I haven't seen any cool cars yet other than the 2008 Altima I have for a rental.
Schwartz, You will soon learn who you can and can't trust around here. Kelly (Tifosi1) means well but is sometimes mentally unstable (usually only during waking hours). Otherwise, he's fine. You'll understand when you meet him. He suffers from sloooooooooow Ferrari complex.... Hopefully we'll see you Sunday. Look for the Porsche! Tracy
I just got "Robin 1"... Magnums PI's plate... NICE!!! Did you know that in the pilot episode the plate was different?
Hey guys, sorry to introduce a new date into the mix, but a few people were very unhappy with having the 3rd run pushed back to Sunday the 2nd due to the Cenla event. It has been suggested by multiple people that we set the date for December 9th. Hopefully we will get some mild temperatures so our tires will be fit for the drive. What do you guys think?
