As some of you may have seen I Ihave posted questions about my continually high water temp running 328. After replacing the expansion tank cap, thermostat, temp fan switch at the radiator and bleeding the system I was continuing to have temps at 220 degrees F before the fans would kick on. I decided this morning that I had exhausted my efforts and called my local independent F car mechanic. I drove the car out to his shop and he used an infrared temp gauge and found that my engine temp and radiator temp were not matching what the gauge was showing. He suggested that I clean the terminals on the sensor at the engine, located near the oil filter under the manifold, due to an increase in resistance that was showing an incorrect reading at the gauge on the dash. After cleaning the terminals my problem was solved. I thought i would pass on this info since there seems to be a lot of recent inquiries regarding overheating of the 3X8 series cars. Hopes this helps some of you out there.

When it comes to trouble shooting, always start with the simplest things first.

Instead of spending untold $ on rads, thermos, etc, check that the gauge is actually working.... good advice and lesson learned.
