The question of A-VIN'd 360s with 4 switches to the left of the steering wheel came up as a brief thread tangent a while back. With yet another example hitting eBay, I have to give it it's own thread. Was this a case of Ferrari running out of blanks for US cars and just substituting switches connected to nothing? Is it confined to any particular model year or serial number range?

Trivial issue, I realize, but I'm curious!

The pic below is from VIN zffyu51a9y0120713.

So what is that 4th switch supposed to operate? Anyone know who has one?

I think the other switch is used in foreign countrys outside of the USA for fog lights in american cars it is not used on my 2000 360.

Have the 4 switches in my 01 spider, and they are all connected to electrical plugs/wires. pics of it in my dash repacement thread. Have no clue what that 4th switch does.

Maury, if the serial number of your spider is higher than 122418, I'd love to know it. It'd be nice to track down the last car with four switches and the first car with three switches - each serial number helps to narrow the search.

I would also love to learn why that fourth mystery switch exists...

Wow! Higher than I anticipated. Thank you. Your car is yellow with black interior and yellow piping, right? Did you buy it from Algar when they had it for sale in July, 2008?

Getting closer here... As per DMaury, his car 126175, has four switches. The cockpit pictured below, 126603, is a 2001 US Spider that has three switches. So the change over for US Spiders was in 2001, and between 126175 and 126603.

Where is Brian Crall? Surely he knows why this fourth switch exists.

Euro cars are fitted with rear Fog lamps, that is what the fourth switch operates.

Eddie, thank you. I saw the switches clearly in this thread but still wasn't sure what they were.

So the 360 Modena and 360 Spider dashes were just cookie cutter stamped for all models across the board. Anyone know what spurred Ferrari to finally change this in 2001?

I wonder how many of the 300+ members who clicked into this thread found it a waste of time?

Yep, that's what it works on the Euro cars, but what does it do on these North American cars? My switch is not just a dummy, but hooked to a plug going into the wiring harness. I suspect that the harnesses (at least the main/dash harness) is the same for all models and that the factory guy that put the plugs in just did it the same for all the cars. I'm betting the rear harness for my car doesn't have the wires for rear fog lights.

This is a yellow/black F1 Spider, right? Thanks for the update!

Thanks, Maury! So does this mean that an owner of a US 360 Modena or Spider that has these four switches could, if they wanted to, install aftermarket fog lights in the rear?
