I was wondering if it was possible to get a 4-point harness installed on my Ferrari 360 without having the racing seats. Has anyone ever done this? Is it even possible? Shouldn't it be possible if the mounting points are attached to the frame and not the seats?

Others will comment who've done it. but a comment from the cheap seats would be to be careful with steel bolts and aluminium panels

Installing the harnesses in your car is not a problem but allow me to offer some insight. Harness installation is primarily done by track goers to increase their comfort by better strapping them into the seat. If not done with at least a roll hoop, it is extremely dangerous. Should the car overturn, its roof will collapse and snap your neck instantly. Having the stock 3 point seatbelts allow the driver and or passenger to deflect sideways thereby easily saving their lives. I all but live at a race track and have seen just about everything. For this reason when I hop in a car with harnesses and no roll hoop I just reach for the 3 points. No one ever expects to flip but the fact is that there is nothing you can do to stop it, it's over before you know what hit you, and it only has to happen ONCE.

I don't take my car to the track, so is it best to just stick with the 3-point seatbelts? I wanted the 4-point harness just because I love the way that it looks, specially on the stradale.

BTW, well you say "roll hoop", do you mean this thing?:

I'm sorry it I've misunderstood you, but I don't know too much about the harnesses. Hopefully you can provide some more insight for me. Thanx

When I refer to a roll hoop I mean a tubular structure that will support the weight of the car should the roof collapse in a roll over. The easy way is a single hoop behind the seats however the proper way to do things is a full out roll cage. Certainly this is serious and should only really be used on a full out track or race car. The part you showed is merely a tube that supports the seat belts behind the seats. With regards to the belts, I would stick to the 3 points. Installing 4 points will require visible drilling which will not be reversible later.

Thank you Nuvolari for the valuable information. I think you are right. I will stick to the 3-point seatbelts.
