It was great to meet everyone and be a part of this event. I got the video up of what I shot from my drone. Many had departed by the time I got it out of the tree and shot some good video. Not the greatest quality, but nod bad for sixty bucks from Fry's.

I see plenty of familiar faces! Thanks for the video but I would have been nervous with that thing hovering over my car, lol.

    Mark,
I avoided flying over the cars to the best of my ability. We are also not talking predator or even phantom size here, the body is smaller than a box of stick matches and it only weighs a few ounces.

We certainly could have used you. We were over halfway there, maybe even three quarters at one point. My video sells it a little short as a bunch of cars had already left by the time I shot it. A gust of wind led me to a crash landing in a tree so I had to wait a bit for some cars to leave to get the ladder over and poke it out.

I heard of a couple other gatherings going on, if everyone posts their get togethers I think we will have a pretty good showing.

Thanks Don! Great to see you this morning. I just woke up from a much needed nap LOL

My personal count came to 36 known cars that I felt were at better than even odds of showing before the weather became an issue. Given the additional outreach through the clubs, the dealers, and the service techs around town, I knew it would be a stretch but thought it was possible we'd reach 40. That would have been exciting for sure.

We've endured a wretched drought and September that must have been one of the hottest on record . . . go figure, all one can do is laugh.

We still had a fantastic turn out and it was great to see everyone. Will try to post some pix soon.

So funny, it was actually quite wet in both directions driving to and from NE LA, but I never saw an actual spec of precipitation west of La Brea. Ironically, I found the morning's cool air a welcome relief and perfect for driving our "warm" cars.

PS-Cheers to Brian! If we'd had a door prize, he'd definitely have been the winner LOL

Great time and lots of cool cars.

Special thanks to Eric and EV West for getting the GTE completed and bringing it to the show.

    Jim,
A great event and the shirts are brilliant. I just got to opening mine and it was like Christmas, very classy wrapping job. It reminds me of my time in Japan where I remember reading a cultural guide that said something to the effect of "once you master the art of wrapping, everyone will be enthralled with your majestically wrapped boxes of nothing."
    Cheers,

I had a great time. The drive home was wet for a period somewhere around Santa Barbara. Just when I thought it would be time to put the roof on because I was getting genuinely wet, next exit is Seacliff, 4 miles up the road. It was a long and wet four miles! I took the roof off again in SLO when I got gas.

Despite wearing earplugs my ears are still ringing a bit. That's the only downside to spending all day behind the wheel of the 308. The engine noise, tire noise, and especially wind noise - roof on or off - is something that modern cars just don't have.

All in all I drove about 800 miles in the trip up and back plus Mullholland and Topanga Canyon a couple of times. Averaged just under 18 mpg for the trip, which is better than I generally get by a bit.

    Thanks for organizing this Jim.
