Ahh, you beat me to it. One of my most favourite drivers, always stops to make me think every time i see his name. I have many photos from that race, but they are all copyrighted. I hope he is looking down with good memories of all his achievements. Hats off to you LB !!

This was almost exactly the time that I first became a fan of the Cavallino Rampante. Poor Banders. He was almost certainly the last of the gentleman sportsman drivers in F1. It was the new, modern breed of full-time dedicated professional drivers from here on out.
To me its the most tragic accidents ever, in Formel history. At the picture with the smoke, we can se the Marshals looking into the water and hoping that he will pop up from the water.
