In case no one else has seen it, apparently Bonhams sold a 5-speed 400i and 5-speed 412 at Retromobile recently.

The 412 sold for about $49k and the 400i for about $48k. Both appeared to be well maintained cars.

Hopefully, this link will work if anyone wants to check out pictures of these cars.

Strong prices, the 400i is a great colour combo.

I agree. I thought these prices were particularly strong prices especially given that there were two pretty similar cars in the sale.

I think we will see the time that the series does come up in price, like the 250 GTEs and 330 GTs did in the last decade. At least we don't have the window issue of the 456...

Never thought I'd say this, but I let Risi's Blue 412 slip through my fingers. Five speed and all that. It still had the plastic on the thresholds.

Damn things don't look so bad now.

    Dale

PS Coulda had it for maybe $30k. It got sold through Ferrari of NE.

I really like the look of the 412. I have been going back and forth about purchasing a later model 456GTA, but have been put off by some of it inherent problems. The one that concerns me most is the auto transmission. I noticed that the 412's transmission was clearly identified. Were there any major problems with the 412 transmission? Were there any other major issues with the car? Thanks.

The 412 Auto tranny is a GM unit which can be rebuilt "anywhere" (the TH 400, iirc.)

Well the 400i is pristine...to the point where I would eat of the valve covers
