    There's a 412 for sale in Holland ,its an 88 and its done 72000 miles, I know the engine is slightly larger and more powerful on a 412, (VIN is 78781 I think). Apart from colour coded bumpers is there much difference? i believe ABS was on the 412 only was this all of them or optional, TBH i'm not fussed in havibg ABS. Is there much mechanical change? are 412s more reliable generally. do you think they're worth the extra £££ that they seem to be going for. This ones 20K euros

    There are few substantial differences and a lot of minor differences between the 412 and the 400i series:

    Major Differences

    ABS was standard (first road going Ferrari to have ABS standard);
    Engine displacement up to 4.94 litres and hp up to 340 from 315;
    Compression ratio up to 9.6 from 8.8;
    Two distributors instead of one;
    Top speed to 250 kph (155 mph) from 240 kph (150 mph);
    Acceleration on 5 speed 0-100 kph 6.7 sec. vs. 6.9 sec.;

    Minor differences

    Body color bumpers;
    Wider front and rear tracks;
    Wider front spoiler;
    Rear deck trailing edge 1/2" higher;
    Rear fog lights below bumper from inside bumper;
    Convex wheels instead of concave;
    TRX wheels for early part of series, then switched to 7 1/2 x 16";
    Electric adjustments for seats;
    Dual a/c standard instead of optional;
    Red instrument numbers instead of white;
    Additional high frequency speakers added on dashboard.

    Those are the highlights!
