365 GT4 2+2 is the earliest incarnation of the shape. It had carbuerettors, a manual gearbox and is outwardly distinguished by having 3 rear lights each side.

Not quite sure where the 400 fits in, as above but with different lights?

Then came the 400i which had a fuel injected V12 (K-Jetronic) with mostly 3 speed Auto gearboxes, and has only 2 lights each side on the rear.

The 412i was the final incarnation had a bigger engine and ABS.

There is a brief rundown here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_400#412
