Does anyone have a source for valve guides for a 1977 Ferrari 400. The part number is 100236 and whilst these are available from Ferrari UK, I was hoping to find a cheaper source than $31 each. Altough I am in London I don't mind shipping from elsewhere if the price makes sense.

I used a company call SI Valves to make custom valve guides for my Testarossa. The parts were made of better material than OEM and were dimensionally perfect. They ended up costing way less than half of OEM... for 48 valves, it made a BIG difference! I don't know if they're around anymore, as the website link I have for them seems to be broken:

Pep, Precision Engine Parts in Las Vegas should be able to help you. They list quite a few replacement guides for Ferrari. Nice quality at a fair price.

Another source is CV Products. They can make guides to your specs on their valve guide form. http://www.cvproducts.com/cv/

The form is located under "technical" in their menu.

You generally want a slightly oversize OD (.001") on the replacement guide to ensure proper press fit in the head.

    Simon -

Take Ferrari-UK's deal. Here in the US, we've only got about 16 of them -- and they're close to $45/ea.
