    They claim it's $1200 worth of parts -- all that are needed for the front end - for $500. Assuming that's so, is there any point in doing only the front end and leaving the back end with shocks etc. for later? My car is needing a suspension change-out rather badly

    400's eat front end parts, not surprised that you need them.

    The ball joints look like 308 pieces. To check it might be worth comparing part numbers for the 308 & 400 in the Ferrari Owners site / Classic parts section.
