    hi

had a leak for some time that couldnt be found

eventually located in the aluminium connector pipe at the bottom of the boot . the outlet to the filter (and then to the pump) has an internal filter that also collects water, its mounted on a steel pipe in the aluminium housing. end result is internal corrosion and then a leak.

I had gas leaking from the rear boot area also in my 400GT. Turns out that the rubber hoses were deteriorated causing the seepage. Replacement was easy & inexpensive. While I was in there, I also replaced the smaller line to the pump/filter and also the short filler hose.
At least there's no fire hazard back there like in my 308, however it will certainly take care of any bad fumes.

    ive attached a photo

i replaced the steel pipe that holds the filter with a copper one and will put an external filter between the outlet and the big external filter. i guess that water can always sit at the bottom of the aluminium pipe, but i hope that it will disperse with flow and get caight in the new in line filter

you can see where we welded the aluminium pipe up

you may be able to give me some advice. i have the fuel pressure return line hooked up into the aluminium filler neck but their are two places to hook this small line, the other being an overflow or pressure release that runs down under the diff.

inside the filler pipe one of the small inlets is mounted perpendicularily to the pipe, and with pressurised fuel splashes it all over the place, and the other inlet goes into a shaped pipe that would direct flow down into the tank which seems more logical. the only way to see this happening is with the power on and the fuel cap open. if yours is working can you have a look and see what happens to the fuel returning into the filler pipe?

    thanks jeff

    Jeff,
I got busy and hope to get to the 400 soon,
I am really looking forward to looking at my aluminum "connecter" pipe, and I will see how my return lines are connected, Fritz
