I am looking to find out about the 400i radiator. Is it just a radiator to cool the engine or does it have automatic transmission cooling lines within the radiator for the transmission? I’m thinking of having a new aluminum one made. Thanks for any info and advice.

Depending on your model, there is an additional transmission cooler with argus fittings. As always with the 400, It's easy to retrofit parts of the newer models to the older variants.

One of these radiators (right one) is the transmission cooler. It's easy to spot: the rubber hoses of the radiator are going down on the right side, when they reach the frame, ther get connected to steel pipes that are clipped to the frame rail, these pipes are heading to the transmission.
