Hello, The factory sales brochures for the 400i which I have seen for sale, for example 79, 81, 83, etc. have all been listed (and marked on the front of the brochure) "400i Automatic". Can anyone tell me if, particularly for say 1979-1984, the 400i Automatic brochures also included the 400i GT manual transmission version or if there were seperate "400i GT" brochures during this period. I know that I have seen both "400 GT" and "400 Automatic" brochures for the older 400 carb series, but not for the newer injected cars. If they had seperate brochures & someone could post some pictures of these it would be great! Also, can someone say for sure exactly when did the 400i brochures reflect the change from the series one to the series two cars? Thanks! Michael Payne
The 400i Automatic brochure (#175/79) photographs are strictly of the automatic version. However they give both top speed and acceleration numbers for both the automatic and manual. The 400i brochure (#295/83) has the emphasis placed on the manual transmission version. With several interior photographs emphasizing such. My feelings are a better brochure that the earlier.
