Who knows the model # and specs on the original fuel pumps..gph/psi/ on the Series 1 1980 400i's..there's got to be better pumps with less amp draw/ dependability,ect...If I do replace them, Ill keep them for posterity..I'm thinking MSD-6amps..all thoughts are aways appreciated as always...Jacques

I think you're about 15 years too late to get a real clear answer on this ;)

    Eurospares shows the 400i using Bosch 0 580 254 910 = F PN 113976

    but

    AllFerrariParts shows F PN 113976 = Bosch 0 580 254 011

The specs for the Bosch 0 580 254 910 fuel pump can be found here (on page 2):

Please post the technical information on any appropriate substitutes that you might find.

    Hi
    Posterity ... Hum ...
I had the pumps replaced and it's like a soap opera, there is always something next.
First I ordered a Bosch pump.
Fitted on the car, but it turned out it did not work.
Sent back to the dealer, got another one.
Same, does not work. Does not even react when plugged on a battery.
    Sent back to the dealer.

The dealer said this is an usual story. Bosch has delocated the assembly line to Czeq republic and now the quality has become terrible.

In the meantime, I ordered a Pierburg (ref is 7.21659.72.0.).
Fits well. Power ok. But, there is a fuel filter on top of the Pierburg (though there is not such filetr on the Bosch one).
And this filter went quickly dirty. Unfitted the pump, cleaned the filter and 50miles later, same thing : decrease in power which can be interpreted as the filter being dirty again.

So, my experience is : problems with the two makes.
I hope you can find a 'made in germany' Bosch pump.

    Good luck.

    Olivier
