I want to sell my 400iGT. It needs some engine repair and I cannot afford it. I have hold to it for some years because I love it and I was expecting I would be able to put it in working order one year or another, but I can't afford it any longer. So I thought this would be my first place to advertise it and maybe find someone interested, or at least good advice on how to sell it.

It is a 1979 400i 5 speed manual with factory sunroof. Black/Black leather with serial #36367 and aprox. 33000Km on the odometer (I have to check the last read)

Things that I know for sure need to be fixed:
    - left bank head gasket. There is a combustion gas leak into the coolant circuit. Would need the right one too (once it's open...)
    - Small hole in one pipe of the left exhaust collector
    - Bent rear bumper
    - Ligths won't turn on/won't rise (this one is just four weeks old, I was checking the car and they just went off).

The rest of the body panels and interior trims are in excellent condition. All the electrics work (except for the lights noted before).
The car has been sitting in a garage for the past two years under a cover. I have started it once every two months or so just to let it warm-up for some minutes so it wouldn't get too rusty.

The car is in Barcelona (Spain), so if anyone is coming for a summer vacation or bussiness trip I would be more than glad to show it to you.

I was thinking on asking 15.000€ assuming that investing no more than 12k€ extra you get a great and unique car.

Here I attach some pics of the car, tomorrow I will post the bent rear bumper since I can't find any pics. Someone in the garage bent it and was kind enough to NOT leave a note :-(

If you have any questions I wil be happy to answer. I can provide new photos or any info that you need and that I can check on the car.
Comments and suggestions are also welcome.

Sorry to hear you have to sell. Your figures are good I think because even if someone buys a working car for double your asking price sooner or later they will have to spend money on the engine.

Any potential buyer would have to be able to see the benefit of getting the engine good vs more initial outlay so it makes sense to buy cheaper in some instances and spend money on something you know is done right ie engine.

With low mileage like yours I asume the gearbox and differential and other mechanics will have suffered less which could save the potential buyer a lot of money.

    Otherwise the car looks great.

I hope that someone can offer you a fair price and see the benefit of a rare 5 speed.
    Regards
    Alastair

    Guillermo,

I'm sad to learn you sell #36367.
I love this exemplar for its beautiful conserved leather and its nice-done sunroof.
I know its existence before your purchase, when it was registered in netherlands.
I hope somebody will consider this safely and rare black/black model.

You can contact us at [email protected]

    Kind Regards

    Thank you Paul,

Yes it came from the Netherlands. It's a pity I could only enjoy it a few times. The problems it has now were already when I bougth it (there are other threads here about them) and though I would be able to fix it. The crisis in Spain has definetly crushed my dream.
Anyway, I hope someone else enjoys it...
