Maybe some old emissions conversion related stuff? I had some in my car that had been partially disabled an removed, and I cleared the rest out.

+1 -- Any sign that a FV was added and then removed? Any added electrics/wiring in the passenger footwell?

    Good day Paul,

Given the end connector (typical industrial terminal block) ... which I have yet to see as a factory connector on our cars...the cable assembly is non original. My guess would be from an old alarm system, etc.

If you are really curious... take out your dash and find out where it goes :) When I took my dash, etc apart I found what looked like a "Wile e Coyote" Cartoonist's image of a piece of "dyno-mite" :) ... In reality it was a electrical noise suppressor (a choke) for the radio... and I would bet it is not installed by the factory.

    Cheers,

    Sam

Hmmm- good call. Also a very strong possibility. Also aftermarket stereo stuff- a good call as well.

Alarm makes sense except its covered in factory sheathing, the wire gauge and patina looks OEM though.

This car came from France to Canada complete with 4 amber headlights long after the 15 year DOT requirement in Canada was in effect so no DOT butchery took place. Ill dig deeper and tell you what I found.
